The new baby quilt is completed and yes i actually completed it apart from the hand stiching around the border inside five hours. Doing the work on the serger was just so fast. I purchased the fabric on Monday morning and cut the strips on the evening , Tuesday at 10..am I started to put it together and by 2.00pm it was done. I sewed on the tags so it could be closed and sat back with a huge grin on my face. Now the new neighbours baby will have a nice warm sleeping bag / play mat / cot quilt that will keep him nice and snug.

Now all it needs is for Santa to deliver it on the special morning.
You can see the side and bottom tags that have the hook and loop fastenings at the side and bottom of it and also part way across the front of the quilt. These have been sewn on by hand so that it will be easy to remove them when it just needs to be a cot quilt.
The large blue strips at the top were just pinned on so i could hang it for the photo Forgot to add that it was done entirely on the serger other than the final hand sewing around the border and the tags that fasten it

Miss Annie, this turned out as beautifully as I had imagined. That is such a wonderful idea for incorporating all those uses. It's beautiful, love the fabrics. Thanks for sharing your inspiration. Know they will treasure this for years to come. This young couple is truly blessed to have you as a neighbor/grandmother for their little one.
