Bib.

My neighbour asked me to make (yet another) bib. I've made loads of them, with or without the cut at the back - not just for her - and usually save the cut-out circles. Some of those I use for appliqué. But among the ones I had there was not a single beige one. And I really had a lot...

Fantastic bib......what are you going to do with the circles, Martine?

Thank you. And as for the circles I put them back in the box, found a bag with more of them when I searched for red fabric, too many to squeeze in as well. I 'll concentrate on Christmas gifts first.

Very useful, and mums do appreciate a good sized bib!!!

Thank you. I agree and this is so fast and easy. I usually do half a dozen blanks so I only have to embroider them when needed - and don't have to Hoover all those pesky loops every time :)

Very cute. I am in awe over the circle collection. Since it is such a nice amount it just makes one want to make something from it. Could use between cotton print for a filler to make a pad or small blanket. I do that with my leftover fleece scraps that is how I put that king size quilt together the fleece scraps was my sandwich part. That takes forever lol. I like the washcloth idea much better.

These are terrific examples of how creative cuties can be. The first thing I thought of when I saw the circles was an old fashion crocheted or knit clown. they are all made from circles to create the arms & legs & the body too (I think) the head is an oval & they are all strung together. A little batting liner between 2 circles & you could string them to make this or Embroider the Alphabet to make a small banner. Either way the bib is quite cute & I can understand her asking for another. ~hugs~

how far away do you put the cd to create the hole? 6-8 inches & do you cut the back open & add Velcro to close it? The ribbing design just fits over baby's head yes but many moms are not fans as the child does not like to wear these, so this is a terrific alternative.

mops by mops 01 Dec 2014

In this case I cut the back open, otherwise I don't and add ribbing. My towel had a border and in that case I cut about 1" from that border.

Based on all the circles you had a large production of bibs. Any plans for all the circles? You are always willing to help.

Ahhh, this is a fun thread! My first bibs for my first child were from handtowels and I appliqued without an embroidery machine. I feel compelled to follow your lead here! About your circle collection.....I can't stop smiling and imagining each cutting and adding to the stash. You've done so much for so many and well beyond bib-making. Thanks for this, Joan

Thank you. Waste not want not, but apart from an occasional applique it all added up to quite a stash of circles. I have used some for baby balls, but rather use cotton to do that. The mini baby wash cloths sewdoctor suggested seems a good idea.

I teach serger classes. To show how to apply ribbing, I have students make a bib, like these,,,,the circles from the neck, I have them practice serging around a circle. The serged circle, becomes a tiny wash cloth for the baby! They are just big enough to wash a tiny face and hands...Your bibs are so nice!

Thank you. I usually serge ribbing as well, but now and again do them this way. Great idea to use the circles as mini wash cloths! I'll get serging soon, thanks!

Oh, Martine, how wonderful that you have adopted another daughter. LOL... This is an adorable bib and you are a sweetie to make it for her. From your circle pile I deduct that you must be a bib expert.

I should be by now, shouldn't I. :) And she is as another daughter in a sense, everything sewing, especially hems and zips (ugh) or embroidering and there she is. But she is always caring for family members - driving them to doctor's appointments etc. So she deserves some help.

Ik gebruik ee cd als mal en maak ze of met een boordje, of zoals deze, ik knip het door en zet het af met biaisband en gebruik klittenband voor de sluiting.
Jij ook een fijne adsventstijd gewenst!

Yes, a small 30x50 cm one, or approximately 12x20 inch.

I don't know!! They are the size of a CD so they might be used as the back of a coaster. For the time being they rest in a box. :)
