I made some more mug rugs to sell at a craft show I'm doing this week. This was a free design and the stitches did not line up perfectly, but I like how it turned out anyhow. The octopus was a freebie too, and the bird is Embroidery Library. They are done ITH and I learned to do the satin stitch around them twice to get rid of the pokies.

They've turned out really well, and I must admit I've done the same thing as you Penny and overstitched twice! Love Chris

What great mug rugs! Love the words added! AND you answered my problem! The stickies showing!! I even "talked" to the gal at sanfranciscostitch about it (email) & she said to use the wss & soak it...which is a good idea, but sometimes I don't have the time to soak it overnight & then get it dry! Tks for the help!

By the way, the folks at sanfrancisco got back to me VERY quickly...which impressed it. Good customer service.

I do these on wss, but it doesn't solve the pokies problem. But stitching the satin border twice did. You do have to rinse the wss out of them. Otherwise, if someone gets it wet, like when water condenses on an ice tea glass, the wss will wick up and saturate the top fabric. The result is that when the fabric dries, it will be very stiff and all wrinked up. PM me if you want to know more about how I do them.
