I wish I had a photo of what my little grand-daughter was doing last week. She started cooking. Her mom said she was underfoot, in the kitchen, so mom gave her a pot with a wooden spoon. She turned her mop bucket over and put the pot on her 'stove'. Mom then placed a potato in the pot, to which Nora stirred and stirred, pretending to cook like mom. How cute is that picture? Anyway, I thought I would make her some play food for her christmas stocking here. How about a plate of bacon and eggs, or if you have a sweet tooth, here's a plate of cookies. Some of the cookies are free from Anne The Gran.

I'm hoping she does 'play' eat them and not really try them-lol- she is only 16 months but is learning very fast, I think anyway. Thanks for looking.

I would have loved these also as a child. I know she will love them! Kay

Kay, when my daughter was a little girl she had a Fisher Price skillet. It had a lid and dial when you turned it on, it would sound like a timer. The set had a yellow spatula, plastic eggs, sunny side up and in the cracked shell, that opened up. It had a plastic juice carton, some plates and forks. Ashley played with this forever. I have been looking for it and can't find it. We should still have it but its too clod to keep looking. I will look again a warmer day, but I know Nora would have fun with it, just like her mom did.

Very nice Toogie, what thread colors did you use for the bacon. They are so convincing, nice and crisp - just the way I like my bacon.

Threads for the bacon are 171 and 422 by Threadart, while this is a cheaper thread, it does well in my machine, most of the time.

Thanks, now to find a conversion chart.

All I can say is a med brown and a reddish brown. It's hard to describe a color shade.

A great job! all kids love to play at cooking, if Nora's started early just means you'll get longer play time..

That is a nice thought, Marian. She plays with an Elmo here, that is actually for Avery. It is switch activated but can unplug the switch and use manually. Anyway, with she comes in, she acts like she is more happy to see that Elmo than us! I told my husband maybe if we moved our hand up and down, cut flips and rolled over, them stood back up, she would be happier to see us!-lol lol lol

I think all our kids are lucky we can make items for the grands. Saves them a lot of money, because if you're like me, you always pay for the 'notions' anyway. Your girls are lucky you can sew such pretty dresses. Ashley saw a pair of pants on Pintrest I'm sure. She text me the photo and ask if I could make them. They were just a pair of denim fabric pants, with a wide ruffle cuff at the bottom, and a 3 letter monogram on the ruffle. $44.00 each !__! -I said yes, and a lot cheaper.

Nora won't be two until July. She seems young to me to know how to pretend cook, but it's been so long, since we had a little girl to play with.

Very nice! where's the bacon and egg from?

toogie by toogie 12 Nov 2014

The egg was from DBC when it was open and the bacon is the bacon panhandler from Sick.

toogie by toogie 12 Nov 2014

ps. on the bacon, I skipped some thread colors/steps and stopped color 4, during the design, to change colors of the lean meat, to look more real. It's seems like this bacon has more lean than what I have to buy.

babolucia by babolucia 13 Nov 2014

The bacon looks awesome! You did such a good job!

I sent a friend an email and told her to have her husband handy, because I had been cooking and baking all morning. I wanted to know if he wanted the bacon and eggs, or he could have this whole plate of cookies, since they were sugar free. He's diabetic. I did warn however, they were tasteless (as you say) probably because they were made of felt-lol... I was on the phone with her when she opened her email and heard him laugh..... He said bacon was a little tough.-lol
