It turned out so cute, what a pretty little model too Chris!
Oh, Chris, this is fabulous! What a lucky little girl to have you sewing for them. Aqualina is beautiful and looks so pleased with her dress! *
It is beautiful!!!.......Great job.....she looks like a little princess.
And she just loves it! great job and beautiful girl
its lovely... hope i can make something like this one day...
This is a massive achievement the dress is fabulous and your granddaughter looks sensational in it. big hugs and cuddles Heather
Hi Heather, thanks, the dresses take such a lot of fabric. Time cutting out and sewing the swirls, but I'm so glad they are finished. Love Chris
Great job! I wish my Mom had this pattern when I was you Granddaughter's age. I would have loved it, too! This pattern is a treasure ! Kay
Hi Kay, my nanna made me great big swirly skirts when I was young and I had rope petticoats under them. Ooh! those dresses were just adorable and I used to swirl and twirl for ages. Love Chris
lovely job Chris. I have looked the the Candycastle web address. The Peppermint Swirl Dress is a crowd stopper, but I think I like your choice of fabrics better.
Hi Vicki, yes they have some great ones on there, but I'm a sucker for navy and white for summer. It always looks so fresh and clean. Love Chris
This is a beautiful dress. I can just see your 2 little girls having fun swirling the skirts as they turn around. Hugs Shirley
Hi Shirley, I've had Ophelie here today and was she happy! I've got some pictures of her twirling. Love Chris
She's a cutie! The dress is lovely too :)
I like how you organize you fabrics, great idea!
Hi Loosie, thanks for the comments. I've had a massive clean out and donated hundreds and hundreds of metres of fabrics to my Newcastle Sewing Guild and to our Op Shop. So this is very depleted. Each colour used to be to the top and overflowing! Love Chris
With that sweet smile, she looks like she just won the beauty pageant.
So, so cute...I love the way she is holding out the skirt!
The dress is so pretty, but the joy and beauty in your GD is priceless.
Such an adorable dress you've made& this little girl looks so thrilled with it. Also, wondered if you don't mind telling what pattern you'd used or was it your pattern? Thanks for sharing your project. :~D
Pattern information is listed below and in the post about Ophelie's dress. Thanks for commenting Robin, love Chris
The expression on her face makes every minute you worked on it worthwhile. You should frame that photo and hang it on your wall. When you see it, you'll be inspired to make more things!
Ha ha ha! Yes, I agree with you - their appreciation certainly makes it all worthwhile. Love Chris
Oh my! This is just too cute! She is over the moon in love with this beautiful dress! How will you ever get it off of her :)
I know, she just loves to twirl. She is a little gymnast too, so she knows how to do it. Love Chris
What a beautiful little model in a beautiful dress......great job, Chris!
Thanks so much Vicki, it's great that they both love to wear pretty dresses. Love Chris
What a sweet smile - She loves it!! And, who wouldn't - you did such a lovely job on this dress and I bet the other is just as beautiful - well done!! You must be pleased!!!! Hugs to you, Laura*
Perfect match! Aqualina is beautiful in her lovely dress. Fantastic job!
Wonderful dress on an adorable sweet little girl.
Perfectly lovely! The dress is very pretty too. ~hugs~
It's no wonder she was excited to try it on Fits like a glove..
She looks absolutely stunning Chris. You have made the dress beautifully.
Oh, my goodness! Look at that sweet face! Good luck Nanna, keeping this awesome dress for Christmas.....I think you may have to come up with something else. lol
Ha, you're right, Aqualina wanted to take it home with her today. Love Chris
She is so sweet, and the smile says" Thanks Nana, I love the dress." Great work.
Hugs Lynn
I love the look on her face. How happy she is, I knew she would love it. I also know the joy you feel in your heart when you see how much she adores it. A good feeling isn't it. Love you Chris/Lillian
Thanks so much Miss Lillian, she was so excited when she saw Ophelie's and kept repeating "Oh! Ophelie's is so cute Nanna". She is a little doll, and yes, it makes my heart soar! Love Chris
This is such a beautiful dress. Where is the pattern from? I have two granddaughters who will absolutely love it. Is this one of your own designs? I love your choice of fabrics.
Wendy
I forgot to mention just how beautiful Aqualina is. She has such a beautiful smile.
Hi Wendy, thanks for the lovely comments. It's not my own design, this particular dress is a combination of the Disco Dress from Ainslee Fox patterns (which is the bodice) http://www.ainsleefox.com.au/cate... - and the Peppermint swirl dress from Candy Castle patterns (which is the skirt). Love Chris
(I posted the link in Ophelie's dress in an earlier post, but I'll put it here too - http://candycastlepatterns.com/)
hi pennifold, what a beautiful dress the colour combo looks fantastic, a summer dress or you can put a light t-shirt underneath it for cool days. regards Lorraine mcneill woodcroft south australia
Hi Lorraine, so nice to have another South Aussie on here. We've got a few and of course I come from S.A. too. I think I told you previoiusly I was from Reynella. Love Chris
Thankyou Chris for your comment, it is so lovely to read and see what other like minded sewers, embroiderers and craft people do, I find inspiration from all of the cutie members, it makes my day, regards Lorraine
She really love it you can see that makes a heart grow warm well done
Now that is a dress made just for a little girl who loves twirling and twirling! Hope she doesn't get dizzy as this is one awesomely cute dress on a more than adorable little girl! You can see her eyes sparkling with pleasure in it. Bet you got the biggest hugs today. Great job
Thanks so much for the comments. No hugs, but lots of oohs and aahs and thanks Nanna and she said I'm just so clever! Love Chris
She looks so pretty and happy in that dress. If I were there, I'd be fighting with her for the dress---sadly it wouldn't fit me.
You did an excellent job!
Thanks so much Lucia, yes full skirts are just so feminine aren't they? Love Chris
Congratulations, Nanna, you have done a great job! Aqualina is adorable in her new dress.
Hugs, Lidia
The dress looks even better when it is being worn by one of your granddaughters. It is very pleasing that after making a dress for a child to see how beautifully it fits. Congratulations proud Grandma/Nanna
Thanks Caroline, yes this pattern is a wonderful fit. As these are for Christmas (and we have it hot here) I wanted them sleeveless. I did put a cap sleeve on Ophelie's, but I didn't want one on Aqualina's dress. She wanted me to finish it whilst they were here today. I told her I'd finish it tomorrow. I'm a NANNA! Thanks once again. Love Chris
I've left the hems on both dresses just overlocked/serged. There were 3 ways of doing them, they were - bias binding, which would have taken metres, folding it up (but they don't recommend that due to the curves) and overlocking! I took the easiest option. Love Chris
