Who has windows 8? Mine is driving me potty! A little while ago, I put an update in, and lost all my apps and cant get them back. But more importantly, when I buy designs, I cannot get the instructions that go with them, and sometimes I need the instructions!

To all you lovely ladies who stepped in to help me with my problem, I'm absolutely over the moon today! After spending hours fiddling about with the PC, I've finally found out how to get the instructions that came with the designs I've ordered! I haven't got the apps back, but I no longer care about that bit, to be able to see instructions for the designs
Is more important. What did I do ?? I saw a message - "Do you have Adobe Reader? If not, install it for free". So I thought "What harm can be done?" So I installed it, and BINGO! I can now read everything I need to! I so nearly gave up on using the machine, I was that fed up with it all! Now for my next project! Thank you all again!

Have you tried to do a "search" and type the name of the app in? The apps may be there just not where you used to see them.
To find your downloads click on the Windows key and at the same time the letter "E" (the Windows key looks like a flag and it is located at the bottom left of the keyboard by the Ctrl key)

Sorry... at this moment, my son is working on a friends computer that's having the same problems after doing the update. He says, start all over from the beginning, there must be a problem with one of the updates.

I was thinking about uninstalling and starting again, but worried that I would lose all my designs. Should I put everything on a USB stick first?

I would. Better save then sorry and make sure that they really are on your USB. A external hard drive would be better and would have more room to put on anything you do not want to risk tloosing.

I will let you know. It's more than the apps that have vanished! When I buy designs and download them, I seem to be going all round the world to find them. I never had any of these problems with Windows XP or Windows 7, neither of which you can buy anymore!

You can still order Windows 7 computers. They just make you think you cannot at the stores. If I were to get a new computer for myself tomorrow -- I would buy a Windows 7 Professional version.

After looking at Rescuers post I am wondering if your have System Restore on Windows 8. Meaning going going back in time and start over with the update?

There is System Restore, but when my son found it, it would only go back to one month, so the problem was still there!

Hi there! Thanks for getting the ball rolling, if I can get it all back again, I think I will get drunk to celebrate!! Are you not going to buy that machine then? For that price, I would expect it to do the cooking as well!.,! Pat
