I was going to make apple butter but hubby has asked for more of my apple sauce so here are 3 batches & 3 types of apples & no sugar added just spices! whew! Now I have beets on the stove to freeze. We have decided that we will get a large canning pot & take the pressure canner back as hubby can not always be here when I get the urge to can & this way that I have been doing it I can now do on my own. I do thank all of you cuties for your help

Apple butter sounds delish. I haven't ever made that, I am going to have to ask Google. You have been very busy!

I just love fall & doing preserves for the cold winter ahead makes me appreciate God's Bounty all winter long. I really feel like I am contributing to our family needs this way. Since I am not working I felt @ a loss not bringing in any money so canning makes me feel good & productive too. I hope that the people who are receiving these preserves in their Christmas Basket this year get a lot out of them & more then just food.............

Amen Loralye!! You are very productive, I've not seen you idle yet, you're always sewing, doing things, you're quite ambitious in my book. You're beautiful through and through!
My mom canned till she was about 85 yrs old, I tried to help her when I could, she thought it was important to have homemade applesauce. I love to make applesauce, it's easy and can be made so many ways.

It will be great!!! I have a friend who makes apple butter in her crockpot, I had done some applesauce myself with the cinnamon redhots too, it was pretty tasty, I had done them on the stove not crockpot though. I bagged mine and froze it and it turned out fine. There are some recipes on the web to add applesauce to your apple pies too.

You are becoming well-prepared for the long winter... Apples are not yet ready in my area... just a few more weeks. Plan on picking the first of my pears this weekend.
