I used an old McCalls pattern for this tote, with a few changes. I emb my design first, not knowing what I would make, so I didn't leave enough fabric for the emb piece to go on the side shaped kind of like this <. So instead of my trim looking like a backward y, it looks like a y. On the inside it has a magnetic snap closure, and I like a zipper for my wallet, so I did a big zip pocket on the inside, so it will hold wallet + a few other things. The pattern had a patch inside pocket which I did use on one, inside side. You can see in the photos. Oh, and here is one photo of me with the bag. This is for the Cutie who says she is not a good photographer, well, as you can see neither is my husband.-lol-Hope you like my tote as much as I like this saying.-Toogie

Thanks Pam. It did take some figuring. I didn't leave enough fabric, like I said when I emb the design, then I found a defect, on what I did leave, so had to work around that.

Thank you,Edith. Actually it is just 3 designs, but thats what changing fabrics can do, give a whole new look. (Veiw A is shown twice) I made V.A when I first got the pattern. Back then I used that plactic canvas inside to make it hold body. I also didn't do magnetic snaps back then and put velcro. Never used the bag, its in a bin. I didn't like the velcro. This makes me want to dig it out and redo,so maybe I would use it. If you haven't tried the mag snaps, please do,easy as eating a piece of cake.

Thank you, I think I am going to get my hubby to do me another 'formica' bottom, to support my things, since it does have a seperate, oval bottom.

Thanks, but speaking of sewing rooms...You may or may not know, a while back I did some organizing in my SR. Well, I knew I had bought 2 packs of magnetic snaps, but when I got ready for them, I couldn't find them. I hunted for about an hour, but in the hunt, kept complaining to myself (out loud too) that I may as well quit sewing, I can't find my things even when they're organized. Told self, where would a sane, resonable person put them? Probally in the clear veiw box I have, with purse finding. But since I, evidently must not be that person, where would I put them ?-lol- I stood still, by my sewing chair considering my dilemma. I have a chairback organizer, but quite often I get cold, so I had a thin jacket draped over the back. In one of the very top pockets, guess what I found.....I know now why I put those there. It was suppose to be a challenge for me, since the magnetic snaps seem to intimidate me, I put them there to confront every time I used my chair. HA. The only challenge ending up being trying to find them-lol-My subconscious knew I didn't want to tackle those mag snaps and helped me avoid seeing them by covering with the jacket-LOl-Magnetic snap-found. Tote-finished. Self analysis-free...lol ..(the rest of mag snaps are now in the clear veiw box, with the rest of the tote findings. End of story)

LOL- poor Toogie-so you actually say that a lot of blood, sweat and tears went into the creation of this magnificent bag-for real! I am glad you have your snaps now where they can be seen-don't you wish our hands and bodies would just automatically do what our minds are thinking when we come up with organizing ideas :D

Thanks, but you don't see the bandage on my thumb.-lol- You know first, I couldn't find my magnetic snaps (scroll and read my reply to lindalee757 ). When I finally did,our daughter dropped by, my BIL and SIL came, had to go back on bus, came back late and we went to grab a burger. I finally got back in my SR last night. Wasn't in there but a minute, came out bleeding, holding my thumb. Told my husband I cut the fingernail off from about middle of nail to outer edge and didn't know how deep into the finger, with my rotary blade trying to cut strap stiffening. Tended to that, wasn't that bad but hurt. Lesson: watch how you are holding the ruler for the rotary cutter. You would think the devil didn't want me to make this bag!
by sewilso 16 Aug 2014
Oh goodness Toogie!!! You're lucky you weren't missing digits! Bless your heart! I read your snap story, cause you have everything organized, and me I can't find stuff either cause it isn't organized. Do you see the irony? lol! Hugs Sister!!!! I guess you showed the devil who's who at your house!

Thank you and my finger feels okay today, but it throbbed like a toothache last night. Good thing my fingernail was kinda long so it took most of the cut.-Toogie
