I have purchased Embird (not used so far). Everytime I click on a design Embird comes up and asks for permission to make changes to my computer, I have not found a place where to turn that off? Any help would be much appreciated.

I have several programs that need the same permission. It is so they can make changes to their software. It will not affect your other programs. Just say yes,

This was the answer from Embird

Embird needs to save settings files to hard disc and to computer registry. I do recommend to turn off User Account Control before installing Embird, so it could save all required files.

I haven't tried that yet, but thought I let everyone know what the answer from Embird was. BTW they were very prompt with their reply. Excellent customer service.

Actually it is a defensive action, so that programs can not make changes to your computer without your knowledge. Just click yes.

mine does that also, I just click on yes. It has to do with user control. if no one else used the computer you could probably turn it off.

In my case, it is the UAC requesting permission - even though I have uninstalled, and reinstalled with both the UAC and firewall turned off. However, once you turn the UAC back on, the request box comes back again. If you were to leave the UAC turned off, the issue would be solved, but I do not think it is wise to leave the UAC off permenantly. So, like everyone else... I just say "yes" and move on.

If you do hear from the Embird folks and find a solution please let us all know. Thanks.

Obviously what Embird said did not help in your case. Oh well maybe saying yes always is the solution.

Hi

Did you set up the file extensions to be opened by Embird in Embird itself? If not, open Embird Manager, go to Options (See picture 1); Iconizer Settings (See picture 2, the part circled in red) and tick all the formats you want Embird to open when you click on them. Click OK (See picture 3, circled in yellow). Sorry for the wobbly lines!

I think this would solve your problem.

Please note: I did not show the first line in Embird, as it shows my registration with my full name.

Please let me know if this works.
Anneliese

If you do not want Embird to open a file type by default, make sure it is NOT ticked.

I have Windows 7 and have upgraded to Embird 2013 last year. I am the administrator and have never had this problem. Unless somebody else gives you the right solution, I would send an email to Embird, they may suggest what to do.
Hugs, Lidia

Thank you for your answer. I have done just that. Maybe you did not have that issue since you upgraded. I installed the first time and I always install as administrator. We will see.

Welcome to Cute Betty. I guess that is what I would have to do. Say YES

When I installed it I did it as administrator and now it always asks that same question. It does not bother me, so I did not change it.

Did you turn off the UAC when you installed it?

dragonflyer by dragonflyer 10 Jun 2014

I did, but I get it the first time I open the program...if I leave the program open, I won't get it again until I close it and open it again...doesn't bother me, though...

rescuer by rescuer 10 Jun 2014

If it does it every time the program opens -- even if you choose to "run as administrator" then the program is asking for elevated permissions each time it opens. There may be nothing simple to make it stop in that case.

Have you tried setting Embird to "run as administrator" and is it the Windows UAC or the antivirus asking for permission?
Please note that I do not have this software.

If that does not work -- there is a way for advanced computer users to get the job done without turning off the UAC (User Account Control)

crafter2243 by crafter2243 10 Jun 2014

It is not Kaspersky asking

crafter2243 by crafter2243 10 Jun 2014

It is Embird itself since it has their Logo etc

I spent some time researching this earlier today. I have only found more users with the same problem -- no solutions yet. I will let you know if I find something that actually works.

Thanks rescuer. Always there to help

You must have Windows 8.1. Mine does the same thing. it's part of the game. Humor it and say "yes" and carry on. Nothing wrong with it

Thaks for answering. I have Windows 7. The only thing is when I organize it takes time for that prompt to even come up each time. Other than that I know no harm is done
