Love the work that you have done on this quilt! So much applique wow! ~hugs~
wow... This is beautiful! And like most folks, I think that a scalloped border would be perfect for this quilt.
Thank you all for your help. I will go for the scalloped border and have to think more about the quilting
I love to quilt and also teach a lot of quilting. You have done a spectacular job of this project! It is minimal in color, and therefore very understated. You will probably want your quilting to blend in to the background rather than have it pop out. What I tell my students is, when choosing a quilting thread color, to unwind some of the thread and lay it on the quilt top, and let it sit there for a few days. Does it bug you? If so, choose another color, and lay it out for another trial.
As for the borders, this design would look positively wonderful with a scalloped border; the larger scallops rather than tight ones. Congratulations. You have done justice to this pattern!!
This is really pretty, just one question... if I may. Did or do you intend the upper right hand corner to be like the lower left hand corner? I know nothing about quilting and forgive the intrusion if my question is out of line. I do like the idea of a scalloped edge, that will add the old world touch to it.
A scalloped border would be beautiful. I love your choice of colours. Well done! Xxx
Would look stunning with one...Beautiful work!!!Well done
Fantastic quilt! I'd use two colors of quilting thread. I'd use a multicolored thread that picks up the colors of the leaves in the large spaces between the vines, but not in the areas that actully have the vines. In the vines' areas, I'd use a color that would blend in with the background fabric.
Nice job..I think a scallop border would be lovely...and I would use a thread color that would show off the quilting...whether by hand or machine...
oh this is so pretty! It's so calming and restful. I think the gray color sounds great and the scalloped border is almost mandatory to continue to show off the graceful lines of the vines. What are you planning to quilt in the paths between the vines and leaves? a meandering feather sounds good but wow - what a lot of work to design and get done. did you make your own bias tape? this is beautiful!
TY for the link to her blog about this design too! I like this much more than the original she used for inspiration.
wow, that is SO pretty! You did a beautiful job! As for the border, I don't have a clue :) I would not go a strong color so it won't take away from your design. ***FLOWERS for all***
This is just beautiful! The scalloped border will carry through the wavy lines and perfectly finish this quilt. If I am hand quilting I like my quilting to show so I would use the gray as you suggested or the light cream( it appears) in the wavy lines. I always have to live with my quilt top for a few days before I decide how I want to quilt it. I know it will be beautiful when you finish. Post the finished picture here in the link by editing your original post so we can see it.
Wow your sewing is excellent lines well meet :):)yes do scalloped border hugs
I have never quilted but I do like the idea of a scalloped edge (sounds difficult to me). I love the use of colours. Very pretty. Job well done. Please post when finished.
You have done a great job with this quilt! I like your idea of making a scalloped edge, to compliment the curves in the leaves. Perhaps using a quilting thread that matches the background fabric would allow your lovely pattern to show better. Whatever you decide - it will look wonderful!
Love this quilt! What is the pattern called? As far as the quilting goes I would just echo the curves of the pattern. As far as the border goes it depends on what color you use. If you use a different color that the background it might take away from the from the actual pattern. If you really can't make up your mind, make a scallioped border out of paper just to see the effect.
