Well its been 5 weeks since I crushed my hand. It is healing slowly and so far x-rays show the bones stitching together nicely. I got lucky, in so many ways, I still have my hand, no surgery, no pins and I am learning to do so many things one handed or by using my elbow or arm. This last week I have started doing Physical Ocuupational Therapy with my hand. I am slowly using my hand a little more and am moving fingers several times a day working to recovering the use of my hand. I had used my hand as a whole a few times before therapy, and am seeing progress. I still have pain, and covering my hand is like covering a burn, it burns more and more the longer it is covered. So I don't use my cast much anymore, lol.

I have no idea if I will recover the complete use of my hand but that is what I am working toward. Just thought I would update everyone.

I am so glad to hear the bones are knitting together without the surgery.

I am glad that you are showing improvement. I know you have a long and painful road ahead of you. I wish it weren't so. Try to work towards being able to do a new task and then working towards the next task. I find it makes it easier to have successes to look at. Please keep us informed even if you have to type one handed.

I have mixed emotions for you now. I am glad you are doing things, however your concern for your hand hits hard. I can empathize with pain. when my fingers hurt, I do not do much. Still we are so resilient and when we get it in our heads to do something, there is not much to do otherwise. So keep doing what you are doing, and know we are here for you. Thanks for posting. Hugs ((( ; ) )))

Thank you for the update. I wondered how you were doing. Keep working hard in PT and things will improve. It is quite painful at times though.

We sure can do a number on our own heads. Do not despair, this too shall pass.

I have put my back out a few times in my life, so I can understand your pain. There is no reason to feel like a fraud, back issues can bring life to a halt for days. I hope you are on the mend!

I am glad you are improving-PT is no fun, but it really does make a difference. Hang in there.
