It was my sister's 80th Birthday yesterday. She loves and collects Swans. I embroidered a swan on a towel for her(From Embroidery Library) and a swan bookmark (From Stitch Delight) She just loved them both.

How lovely! I know she was flattered you did her favorites. Do you know the old saying about a good hostess? A good hostess is like a swan, serene on the surface and paddling like h@*! underneath.

Thanks. Too many stitches for towelling though. The embroidery was a bit hard. She said she wouldn't dry herself with that part. LOL

The towel and bookmark are a splendid gift! I understand what you mean about dense designs on towels. They do make a wonderful decorative item for the bath if they are to stiff to use. With very dense designs I usually enlarge them about 10%-15% without increasing the density. That reduces the density and it's not noticeable in the stitchout.

Would make a nice decoration in the bathroom. If I sew out the swan again I woud use the smaller size I bought and do what you have suggested. Thanks Shirley
