These are the hat measurements,I used here.I cut the body(main piece) 28 inches x 8 inches. (I cut the stretch of the fleece the 28inch , as I didn't want Avery's to stretch from face to back of head, she pushes so much)I then cut a 28x4 inch for the band, around the front edge.My fringe is 12x3 1/2 inch. This fits Avery and she usually has a big bow in her hair, too. She is 8 years old, and she is slim.I can give directions, if anyone thinks needs them, but if you sew,you can put it together, easily. The fringe I do fold in half lengthways, then turn each end back on itself, halfway again. This will be 4 thicknesses, but you want to end up with a 3 in piece to sew in the corner, curve. It is easier to sew these together, before attaching to body.(look at my post with the blue grown- ups hat, here in Sewing.Be sure you fold the band wrong-sides-together, before pinining and sewing right-sides-together, to the body.I hope someone can use this info-Toogie...snaps are placed 3/4 inch from bottom edge and 3 3/4 inch.It may vary for your child's face, but this is what works for us.
