It was fun re-reading this post. I would like to know more about dissecting and putting back together. This is done in a digitizing program? I am still well amazed at your work and think I want to do more like this.
thanks again Christine,
It has nothing to do with digitizing cut taking sections of designs and creating new ones. very hard to explain, you just have to practice with a good program, I have embird,
oh I think a whole lot of stitches, but so worth it! it's beautiful!!
Wow, this is absolutely beautiful. Your friend must have been really grateful. I wish I was your friend.
kind regards
Crafty Sharon
its a project like this that encourages me to stick with machine embroidering and hopefully learn like this one day!
Thank you,
everyday you learn something new and one day you will attempt something like this and it will be a success, if you believe in yourself, you can do anything
I'm fabbergasted, you have done such a terrific job with the tree skirt I wouldn't know where to start counting... you are a very special friend indeed
Thank you so much
our friendship is very special. have know her for over 20 years.
That's wonderful, stunning! Congratulations, that's a masterpiece.
I would guess 850,000 stitches and about 50 designs.
Hugs, Lidia
Wow! that is a very effective project. I see I am too late to guess the number of stitches but I was going to say "a very large amount". Amazing work.
Oh My GOSH!!! That is a work of art!!! What an amazing job !!! It will definitley be treasured for many many MANY years/centuries to come. WELL DONE! I think more than 1,000,000 stitches. Hee hee. (Wild guess!) BUT it is just so AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh now that I've given everyone flowers, long way down. I read others guess and I see you had said 1 million was too high, SO I then guess 750,995. :D
It is an amazing design & after enlarging the photos I saw so much more eg rabbits. So I will guess 36 different designs but some of the clouds & snowflakes are repeated & 800,000 sts.I know the hibiscus & the frangipani cushions I did had 71,000 to 75,000 sts & they were in a 200 x 260mm hoop
Thanks,
I used my large hoop 400 x 400mm so less hoopings for me.
I tried to add lots of elements to represent the house in the country.
Michelle, your projects are absolutely astounding! I can only dream of ever being on this level! What a wonderful gift! I'd guess 600,000 stitches and 25 different designs.
Thanks,
Pretty good guess just a few too many stitches and not enough elements,
As far as being on this level, just go for it you never know what you can do until you try.
If I had a tree skirt this beautiful, I would be tempted to leave the tree up all year around and decorate it each month or season with different holiday or special decorations. Great job, what a special friend you are!
It is really beautiful! I would guess at least 650,000 stitches amd abpit 12 elements.
Maureen
I know the answer. WAY too many stitches. Wow - hope your friend loves you back!
Absolutely stunning work! I'm guessing 750,000 stitches. What kind of machine do you have? It would take my machine waaaay more than 2 days to stitch this out. How long did it take you to choose the designs, get them all layed out so that they work together?
Thanks
I did this on my new industrial ''Happy'' machine, large hoop and ran it at 750SPM.
Choosing the designs was the fun part. I go through my many designs and place everything into a folder, then I do a first sort to discard what I will not use and then start dissecting what I will use. Prepare everything and then like a puzzle start piecing everything together. I enjoy that part.
I agree Michelle., you are amazing., There are no words to explain how wonderful this tree skirt is. Both you and your friend are so blessed to have each other.
Michelle: You have gone over the top on this one, no wonder she was excited. This is beyond words and I am sure will be treasured for future generations. Well done.
Hugs Jerri
Thank you Jerri,
I am sure she will cherish this for years to come and then will hand it down to her younger son (he is like a son to me)
hugs
Michelle
Absolutely beautiful!!!!!!
I will guess 35 elements and 600,000 stitches, you have done a beautiful job piecing this scene together, I recognize a few different pieces in it but not all.
Thank you,
I declare you the winner with the right number of elements and just 50 some thousand stitches off. Wish I could give you a prize LOL
hugs
Wow, Wow, Wow! Absolutely Stunningly Beautiful. You should be so very proud. Your friend is a lucky woman to receive such a heart-felt treasure. My guess is 544,000 :) Wish I could give you that many flowers too. Flowers to All!
Boggles the mind to think how long this would take on the average machine; I'm guessing at least 50 plus elements in the design...love,love,love , like the song, a true labour of love...
Thank you,
On my regular machine this would have taken a very long time, I am Lucky to have such a large hoop.
I'am not guessing. Quite beautiful and a work of art. Well done. Sarah.
Very beautiful and one of the most memorable projects I have ever seen! I love the white on white. I guess 550,000 stitches and 7 elements? Deb
Thanks, this is actually a light beige satin to offset all the white snow and it worked great for the contrast.
You sure can see all the loved you poured in and it is just lovely!
I can't believe this was only 3 hoopings. It is magnificent--a work of art.
The hours involved must have been mind boggling! I can't wait til the game is over and you tell us all the answers. Beautiful-- beautiful.
The patience involved here is awe
Absolutely breathtaking.Did you do it all in one day ?.
simply amezing...
u took lot of efferts.. so many hours to complete this..
Congrats...!!
Absolutely gorgeous. Truly a labor of love. I can't even begin to guess. I am sure it will be treasured for years to come.
You take the "I did this" award! I have so many questions. did you combine these designs or how or where... My guess is about 360,000 stitches.
Thank you Christine,
Too low on the stitch count. All of these many many design elements were combined and I shall explain it all once the guessing game is over, be patient lol
Hi Michelle, I'm guessing over 10 elements and I'd reckon close to 400 hundred thousand stitches. That's assuming the average design has 30-40,000 stitches in them. Of course some haven't got that many.
Nevertheless, it is an absolutely outstanding piece of art embroidery. You should have put it in a show somewhere. I'm not surprised your friend cried when she saw it. Love your work, love Chris
thank you Chris and yes when she saw the reference to her dad she lost it.
Your not bad on the stitch count but way off on the element count, I am having fun with this.
hugs
Michelle
I am going to just throw out a number...1.5 million stitches.
No matter the stitches -- it is a wonderful piece of artwork! Excellent!
OK then ... how about one third of my guess? LOL
How many times did you have to change out threads? I do know it would take too long on my machine and I doubt mine would allow the thread count on several of the pieces.
I shall give you all a clue, finished size is 36'' by 16'' high or 91cm by 41cm high. Took 3 hoopings in my large 15.75 x 14.75'' hoop. that's all I'll give you, keep guessing LOL
Mind boggling. you have put elements onto elements. my first guess is more than 1,250,000
What size is the Design 30cm X 60cm ??
thanks so much,
Oh my that is too, too high and the size is 91cm wide by 41cm high. Yes to create the scene there are base elements and decorative ones as well. It is like painting a picture, base then embellishments.
It is so elegant, and beautiful. You did a beautiful job on it, and I know she appreciated it so much. I have no idea on the stitch count, but will guess 159,000. Sharon
Thanks Sharon,
Nope there are alot more than that, more than that in just one hooping.
your stuff is always amazing. I love the sleigh with the horse, where did you get that and the mail boxes are just to cute.
My guess is 280,000.
thank you,
your guess is too low and as for the designs, they come from so many places I would not know where to start, will check and see if I can retrace him
Beautiful!!! That is lot of snow and details. I am guessing 300,000 or little over stitches.
This is beautiful. I can't guess how many hours or stitches. I know your friend is truly happy with it. You should be very proud.
thanks Kathy
approximately 7.5 hours of stitching time and remember this is on my new industrial machine, would have taken days on my viking machine. I am very proud of this project
This is truly a wonderful tree skirt, a treasure to keep & pass on! My guess is over 200,000 & many hours. Beautiful! Hugs Loralye
I'm am sure it will be passed down to her younger son who is like my own son, spent alot (most) of time here when he was younger, he is my son's best friend.
hugs back
Michelle, my friend, this is amazingly beautiful!! I could not even attempt to guess how many stitches are in this work of art, lots of love put into it...showed it to my son and he said, "Wow how awesome!" You have out done yourself, cannot say enough...I am sure she will treasure it forever...thanks for sharing this masterpiece with us. Hugs!
thank you Cecilia,
yes lots of love and time spent hunting the designs for this one. I will be adding to this as her family grows and she was so excited and happy to put it out on display. I would love to do one of these with an indoor family Christmas scene, something else to add to my ''to do list''
hugs my friend
Michelle this is absolutely stunning you should be very proud ......soozie
OH MY! Michelle, this is one of the most amazing projects I have ever seen in my entire life! How very special I know your friend will treasure this forever and I don't think she will be able to put it away after Christmas. It had to have over a million stitches! How many different designs did you combine, and how many hours did it take you? It is just spectacular!
thanks Jan
one million is too high, took me 2 days to embroider with 3 hoopings. I think it is pretty special
