Today is December 7th. "A day that will live in infamy ...." I wasn't around in 1941, but I have family that was and they have kept the date alive for me and the rest of the family. If you're an American I sincerely hope someone has keep it alive for you. Just like 9/11 we should never forget. And pray for the souls of those who died.

Yes, it was a very important day for my Dad. He was very quiet about his war-time service, but when he did open up and share, because he realized he was going to die and those memories would die with him, we listened very respectfully and quietly. He served in the Pacific theater, but had such respect for Mr. Churchill, as do many Americans.

This year, we lost our brother in law who was a survivor of the Arizona in Pearl Harbor! On this day in 2000, I took the ferry across the English Channel from Dover, UK to Calais, France so that I could see the White Cliffs of Dover. As a child, my father told me he could see them as he parachuted into France with the 101 AirBorne, Screaming Eagles on this day. There was a French woman and her family who heard my husband and I talking about the event, and she grabbed me and hugged me, saying, "We were so glad to see the American's arrive!!" "Pop" is gone now, but he made his family patriots! GOD BLESS THE U.S.A.

I was not born yet on that day, but we have visited the Memorial in Hawaii twice...both times very emotional...It was an awakening for the United States....and a time that should never be forgotten...

I have been watching the special programs on the military channel today. Thank you for posting this quote for cuties. I wasn't around either but my Dad was on the West Virginia that day when it was bombed. He survived when the abandon ship order was given by swimming through the oil slick from the Arizona. He said it caught fire just as he got out of it. It was always difficult to get him to say anything about the war at all. They were truly the greatest generation.

I have visited the memorial twice and have found possible relatives. Although I was born in Canada, mine and my husband's families came from the US. I am slowly trying to see if these 2 souls were related and send extra prayers. Vida

I was around then, but too young to know about it. I do remember the war though. I agree that we should remember that day. I remember the day the war ended very well. Joyce

I agree, we should never forget. And our country continues to be attacked daily by cyber terrorists and others.
