A sycamore leaf, gingham on the front and apple fabric on the back. I made a bunch of different leaves and sent them to my Mom :-)

Great job hightechgrammy. I haven't been on cute postings for awhile. Did you post these as free design?. Love the way they came out. Looks so real, your mom will love them. I thought how they would look in different sizes down the front of a sweat shirt. I did that once with real leaves, I photo copied them then made a template of stiff construction paper. Took different color fabric, silver, gold, bronze, etc and made the different size leaves then used heat and bond to apply to shirt like they were falling down the front and painted the veins and outside of leaves with fabric paint. Turned out so nice. Friend I made it for in CA still wears it. Couldn't these be appliqued to a shirt?

These are really stiff, with extra thick satin stitch on the outside. There are lots of places you can get free applique leaves. I just did some that you don't usually find, like aspen, sycamore, tulip tree and hickory tree.

I have leaves for applique from Sick. I was just saying how nice these would look as appliques. I noticed the extra think satin stitch. Thanks, Alta

They look lovely. It is amazing how well the apple fabric worked. It is so realistic looking. Last year went I went to visit my parents in NY state, I saw some leaves similar to these and they were shapes into shallow bowls. Just another thought you might like to try. hugs, Susan

I think she will just lay the leaves on her dining room table, or on the side tables, or maybe they will clutter her kitchen table. She will show them to everyone who comes into her house and tell them her wonderful daughter made them for her.

Thanks, I was surprised how pretty the apple fabric looked! We have a special feeling about red gingham in my family as it was my sister's favorite.
