Good Morning, I had the most fabulous and amazing thing happen to me yesterday. Jim had put up 3 of our hummingbird feeders up in the back yard. We have already been visited by 2. Miko and I were on our way out for our morning walk when I noticed a little green thing fluttering on the ground below one of the feeders. I slowly moved toward it and saw it was a hummingbird. I tried to pick it up but it moved though the wire fence to the outside yard. We went out to try to get it but it walked back through the fence. This time, it stayed there until I got to it. I slowly reached down and gingerly picked it up. Her wind had been dislodged. It had a panic look in its eye. I brought her up to the back door and showed Jim. Of course, he asked me "Is it alive?" and "What and I supposed to do with it?"…….. I walked back to the feeders, all the while rubbing her little wing back into place. Saying a soft prayer to keep it safe. Cupping it and holding it up to the feeder so it would not be dehydrated, it drank. Then, it stretched its legs as if to stand up, and flew away…… I had forgotten to ask Jim to take a picture… But, the memory will last a lifetime for me. To be able to hold the tiny bird in my hand is a miracle to me.

The little bird must have been terrified of you at first and then found you to be kind and compassionate. Your touch helped to save its life. It's the little things that give us character. You're one very awesome lady to take the time to save one of God's little creatures. Bless you.

What a wonderful precious moment with wild life. I have had a couple experiences that I really enjoyed. One was the flight of the dragonfly. thousands of them. Large ones. It only lasted a half hour and they were gone. That was once in over 20 years since I have been in this house. The other was a mother predator bird teaching her young to fly. It was mesmerizing. So glad you were there to take care of things.

That is an experience you will never ever forget. I am envious. This morning I saw only one female ruby throat but the amazing thing was that it was feeding while a hawk was sitting on top of the suet feeder. All the other birds, chipmunks, and squirrels were long gone but not the hungry hummer. We live in the city but the hawk still visits about twice a month.
