In handembroidery you can easily weave your thread through the stitches at the back and go a few mm's to another stitch. In ME you have to digitize in such a way crosses in the same colour touch each other as much as possible.
I made my golden rod I posted as if I designed a hand embroidered design and the yellow and especially the ocre do not touch. I've tried to change the stitching order, but still too many jumps and too much trouble to do it by machine.
It is a balancing act! I'd risk not cutting the jump stitches in the first few colours of the design and also the short ones in the lighter colours. I think that this situation arises when a hand embroidery chart is digitised. Also, the colour choices need to be far more subtle than in other types of ME or the design doesn't look good when stitched out.
Look out for other cross stitch designs which have been digitised specifically for ME.
I have learned a lot readubg your comment. Thank ou Sue. Wow I can appreciate the hand pieces I have all the more.
Oh my I just looked up and realized there are 41 colors! I am not sure I should have started this tonight. Is this usual for a 4 x 4 design. Yes I can understand if you are doing hand embroidery. but really.
These are tiny stitches. Are they always this tiny?
I've always clipped mine and haven't had any problems. If you are worried just tie them off. Love Chris
So if needlepoint is half of cross stitch, are there designs using the needlepoint method, it would be lighter.
These jumps are horrible as well as the color changes, it has been 2 hours and I am only half done.
