My machine is sick....I had a problem with the thread continually breaking. I changed the bobbin because the one I was using looked funky. It seems to be running better, but now the thread in the top gets stuck on the tension feed and breaks...any ideas?

Is your tensionrod not perhaps breaking? Mine did the same thing and then I saw a tiny piece of steelwire on my embroidery - it was this rod that was broken. (It sometimes hapens when you do a lot of embroidery, it sort of shaves through) Mine is fixed now and she is humming like a new machine. Hope you find your problem.

Mine did the same thing! The dealer said the machine was used more than the manufacturer expected LOL

Thank you! I'll have to look at that. I've been too busy to get back to it and look at it (also too scared...lol)

You are going to need service. Futura's are very picky about thread jams and such. The timing may be off and your bobbin case may need to be replaced.

Should I call Singer and see who is in my area?

Thanks for the replies everyone! I had previously cleaned out the bobbin case area, due to some strings tangling. Perhaps I messed someting up, so I unscrewed it and checked it out again. All seemed fine, then I changed the needle and changed the bobbin out. I haven't tried it again yet. Cross your fingers that it will work!

I had a problem like this. Tried everything, changed needle, new bobbin, cleaned all the machine, used the floss. Changed to another spool of thread, no problem. Took this first one and threw it in the bin.

Back to basics, clean the bottom, check the top, and change the needle.

I am no expert but it may be worth dismantling the top thread tensioner and cleaning the parts thoroughly. Over a period of time, deposits from the threads can build up and affect both the true tension setting and the free running of the thread. Once this has been done, you may also need to re-adjust the bobbin tension. Hope this is of some help.

I am great at dismantling my machine but not so at putting it back together. So I try to refrain from too much self help.

You know it's bad when you put it all back together and have parts left over. :)

take a photo of every stage of dismantling items so that you can then see how the parts have to be returned and in what order
.the photos can be deleted once all is working ok agin
