Thanks for the photo, they look very interesting. I presume that the leaf is spiky? Knowing nothing about them I have just read about them and find that they are described as a living fossil as they have remained unchanged over millions of years

I think it is their seeds.

How big is the thing in the middle and is that the seed?

very lovey to see green and a flower, we are now getting another 5 to 6 inches of snow. Does it bloom every year like that?

No I must admit it is the first time I see it as well. I believe the one is a male and the other a female plant. It actually is amazing to see it. We are now living in the house for 3 years and we have 3 of these in our garden of which only 2 formed these hard cones this year.

Thank you for your pictures. It's good to know that there is some sunshine somewhere in this world, because it certainly isn't shining where I am.

Dennis at the time you put this comment up it was dusk in the UK. You must be in the wrong part of the UK as I have had brilliant sunny weather for most of the past week. Today we were able to spend time in the garden working and our neighbours sat out reading

Well winter is moving in on us fast. You can see the color of sky changing and there is a definite chill in the mornings and at night. But the sun shine year almost all year, it is only the temperature that differs. Also our cold winters average probably below 10 degrees c unlike other areas in the world.
