CUTIES HELP WANTED PLEASE:

Cuties ~ Please may I ask for your assistance in a different field please? I hope you don’t mind and that it is ok to post this here but don’t know who else to ask for help!

1. I am trying to find some Postage Stamps that are Sewing / Quilting theme related. The pics I have are some I saw but not avail as single items to sell so perhaps someone knows where I can purchase them or have some! Thanx!

2. I also would like to add to my Sewing / Quilting Pin (Brooch) collection that I recently started. I don’t have pictures only a few of what I have seen that I would like as I realize that there must be THOUSANDS out there! These are the type that are given out / sold at Quilting Guilds / Groups / Festivals etc!

Would sincerely appreciate if anyone could point me in the right direction as to where I could purchase (using PAYPAL) these stamps / pins and that would be prepared to mail to South Africa.

Perhaps somebody has them laying in a draw and no longer needs/wants them and is prepared to sell/swap them with me! Please contact me (PM) and we can discuss it as all costs WILL be met or swapped for ‘what have you’!

I cannot post pictures as my HD crashed and I don’t have them re-loaded as yet! I can only PM them to those that are able to assist me!

Thanks so much in advance for taking the time to read this!

Just so you know... Shipping anything outside of the US is not cheap. When someone messages me to see if I will ship elsewhere, I take the item in a shipping package to the post office to see what shipping is. I then contact them and If they don't want to pay the shipping prices, then I guess they have to go without the item. It's not always the seller charging to much, it's the postal service.

I am well aware about the expense of shipping as I have/do purchase items on eBay! My complaint is when a seller wants to charge me $24.00 for a $2.00 pin when I KNOW that it can be sent wrapped securely in bubble wrap inside a padded envelope for $7.00! I have even had 15 pins sent that way AND received safely for $11.95 postage! Just recently a seller sent me 19 pins for $12.00 - SO how my question is WHY would that seller & others want to RIP ME OFF with postage??

I am all for paying postage but charge me what it costs plus your packing but don't try and make money out of me! I have had a LOT of packages over the years arrive here and you just have no idea how many have charged me more that TRIPLE of the original so called 'packing & postage'! I did not have any claim as they had my money and if I said anything they would just post negative feedback - I lose out as I am in SA and then other sellers would then not sell to me - so I would just have to 'grin & bear' it! NOW I ask for a quotation BEFORE I bid/buy and then there can be no confusion or misunderstanding or overcharging with regard to postage!

Forgot to add I have also sold on eBay in the past and always quoted what the actual postage was to send item!

Hi, I am not sure if this will help. stamps.org has a reference section of US stamps and International stamps by country. It is quite a library and would take a lot of time to search. I did a search in the store with keywords sew, embroidery and quilt with zero results. sorry. I love stamps and know there have to be some, so you may want to look further. Please let us know what you come up with. 2nd link is to the reference section.

Had another look and most prices just way beyond what I can afford and also not the type of 'pins' I want to add to my collection!

Thanks once again to all for your comments/ideas etc! I appreciate it sincerely!

I checked on ETSY....just typed in "sewing brooch" and it brought up 45 pages worth. Since these are small business people you may find someone in South Africa or they may be able to send it to you at a more reaonable amount on postage. Good Luck.

Thanks Muffy - I checked - a lot of home made items - not the type of pins I am looking for but was great to browse to see what is out there! Appreciate the link! *4U!

I had a bit of time spare and so did a bit of Googling re: themed postage stamps. I see that you are not actually a collector of postage stamps but in case it is of interest, I found the undermentioned website in the Phillipines which sells these stamps at what would appear to be reasonable prices. The link below should take you directly to Page 1 of 2 specifically relating to 'Embroideries.'

Hi again,

Thanx to all for your comments & suggestions! Flowers for all!

Just to clear up something - I don't collect Postage Stamps but need some for a Project relating to Quilting/Sewing that I want to do! I was told that either Canada or the USA had some Quilting / Sewing related Postage stamps!

The main thing that I am REALLY after are the Quilting PIN/BROOCHES - these are what I have started to collect! I would LOVE to add to my small collection!

I have had a look on eBay but the majority of the Sellers won't ship to South Africa and those that will want to charge exorbitant postage rates! Just not prepared to pay between $16.00 - $23.00 for a $0.99/2.00 pin! I did find a few on eBay and have received them - but seems there are not that many available!

Thanks again! Hugs!

I'm not sure how you could find them now but a few years ago the United State Postal Service did a series of stamps based on the Gees Bend quilts. At the time I just got them at my local post office. Perhaps if you go to the usps.com site you might find something.

And for some fascinating American Civil Rights and quilting history, google Gees Bend or Gees Bend quilts. And learn what that has to do with the monks from Taize.

When I first read your Item 1, I assumed that you were seeking embroidery designs of postage stamps. I know that I have seen these somewhere but can't find them at present. That said, I then read your post again and realised (DOH!) that you are looking for actual postage stamps with the theme of sewing and quilting. Sorry I cannot be of immediate help but will keep my eyes open.
