Notebook cover

I love the embroidered "bumad" - the regional dress of Norway, often worn at weddings or on May 17th, the national feastday. Embroidery is wool on wool, often still made by hand at home.

I digitised my take on a design (this is part of it) in Madeira rayon - this size was a bit too small to use a woolen thread like Burmilana.
Nice touch: it's embroidered on black wool, a remnant of one of my grandmothers' skirts - they both wore the regional dress of Scheveningen.

I think I'll take this as a gift for my daughter who lives in Norway - I'll be flying there next Thursday.

Lovely Martin, I have seen pictures of these dresses on TV. Would be super to have the designs adapted for Madeira wool as I have a box full of it and can not see to use it lol. Enjoy your trip to Norway and best wishes for Christmas X

That is such a wonderful and heart-felt gift, brings tears as I think of how much memory of grandmother is in it. I love doing those kinds of projects.

Wow Martine,
You have placed much of your heart into this project. A grandmother's skirt. How wonderful The fact that it will go to your daughter in Norway is doubly wonderful. What a treasure to be passed on. It is beautiful on many levels.

Very nice design, and your daughter will love the it - both as a gift, and a tribute to her great grandmother. Perhaps it will become a family heirloom of sorts, passing down to her daughter as well.

Thank you. I took a lot of pictures last year and love these designs. And yes, it was and I think Esther will love the Dutch/Norwegian combo.
