Hi Cuties

I am asking for a friend as she is thinking of buying the EQ7 (Electric Quilt 7) program. I am not familiar with it and wonder if any of you have it or know someone who has.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I have EQ 6 then upgraded to EQ 7, I love it. There is a learning curve but I did find it easy to use. I teach patchwork and find it invaluable for working out quilts etc for my students. I love to design my own creations. I have just bought the EQ Stitch a plug into EQ 7 for digitizing your drawings and saving in your embroidery format.........so excited about this as I would like to combine both my loves into a quilt.
There is a EQ newsletter full of information. The tech staff at EQ are just wonderful in helping with a problem. Then it all depends what your friend wants to do with EQ 7.

I don't think the EQ programs are any harder to learn than anything else. You just need the time to work with it. I have the EQ5 and never upgraded the program as I don't have time to quilt much anymore. I'm happy with my older version without spending money for the upgrade. This is a little quilt that I was playing with several months ago and have never made it, but I love that you can bring your embroidery designs into the program like I did. Don't recall where I got them from, but they are the Paris designs.

Buy it, have fun with it, I'm more than pleased with how the program works.

I bought one of the ealier versions. The learning curve was high for me. But the reason I stopped using it was because I found that when I had the fabric in hand, how I was going to use it changed tremendously. A little crazy, but the fabric inspires me as to what it needs to be, and it was never what I had designed on EQ.

I have EQ7 and I have designed some very nice quilts with it but there is so much that I haven't done because of the learning curve. I agree, that if you don't use it often, you have to spend a bit of time relearning each time you use it. I would recommend the program but I would also recommend getting some instruction videos that you can use to fully appreciate what the program has to offer.

Jeri, I have EQ5. It is incredible all that it is capable of doing, but if I don't use once a week I forget how to use it and it is very frustrating. Thank goodness it came with a couple excellent instructional books. I haven't used the program enough to justify what I paid for it, simply because I keep forgetting how to use it. Hope this helps your friend. I don't mean to discourage just consider how often you are going to use this program is the big thing. Hugs, Susan
