I am an ex smoker (60 a day) and would probably still be smoking if I had not had a DVT nearly 30 years ago. It is a very difficult habit to give up. I now hate the smell of cigarettes, especially on people and their clothes.
Me too, I used to smoke but gave it up almost 20 years ago and the smell of smoke makes me sick now.
I have seen people smoking out side hospitals who are attched to oxygen cylinders...
I smoke and I have been hospitalized. Trust me this person was the exception rather than the rule. If there is no "grace" for a sick person who has a physical addiction then we are in trouble. I have been smoking outside for 20 years rain, cold, snow or sleet weather cannot change my bad habits. This person would pay the ticket!
I understand that if you smoke you don't want to be told you can't. But the life and health of the many outweigh the happiness of a few. My husband smoked when we were married. My parents smoked until the day they died. As a result I've never had a cigarette in my mouth. Nasty habit.
I grieve for the people who smoke after watching my father die an agaonizing death from heart disease and emphysema. Most addictions are terrible things to bear.
well my Hb is a smoker, and he always have smoked in the house, but around 8 years ago I was operated and the doctor told him not to smoke in the house anymore, because it was very bad for my healing proces( I had a skin transplant) So he does smoke outside or in our garage(you can smell it there!), however when I go to bed he always smokes 1 or 2 sigarettes in the living room. And yes it smells, but even if somebody smokes outside they have a special smell around him or herself. But it seems to be very hard to quit for many people. Even if they know it expensive and unhealthy :(
Smoking is an awful thing. My DH is a smoker. He has congestive heart failure and COPD. He was told 10 years ago if he didn't quit smoking he would be dead by his birthday. Well needless to say he proved them wrong. I wish everyday he would quit., He has had open heart surgery twice , spent 30 days in the hospital in ICU, but the minute he gets in the car to go home he demands a cigarette. I don't understand it., but I know what you are saying. Hugs, Susan
My husband use to smoke & only gave it up when he had a malignate suncancer cut out off his bottom lip.It was hard to smoke with all those sts in it,also if anything happened again there would be no skin to pull up to cover the wedge that was removed from his lip.He is a bit vain.Considering his recent health problems ,its just as well it happened
I am a X smoker , so I can see both sides. But for those of us who can't breath.... breathing is a big plus. Also my pet peeve so to speak is all those who do not bathe and need to take a bath in perfume or colonge. { { A drop goes a long ways } There are a LOT of us who are allergic to them. And our throats can swell shut. Thanks for allowing to say my peace.
I understand what you are saying about the perfume. I just have to hold my breath as I pass some people. Why use so much.
hate getting into elevators that reek of perfume/after shave from the last passenger. I usually hold door open for a minute or take another.
Years ago some department stores had people spraying perfume that they were promoting, on you as you enter the store.Thankfully this idea didn't last long,I either entered through a different door or held my breath & ran
