SO glad that they will be ok! Merry Christmas! I have an unflued gas heater in my house and in winter I often put up with the cold rather than use it because the smell from the gas is horrible and leaving the windows wide open for ventillation seems to just make everything colder. I have smoke detectors of course, but did not know you could get carbon monoxide detectors, too. Thanks for sharing your "Christmas miracle" with us.
wow how fortunate for all of you. this is a lesson for all of us with wood stoves.....who would of thought...
Truly someone was watching over the family. We have a carbon monoxide detector and and it didn't cost very much. So glad this was a good outcome.

Thank God your son came home when he did. Carbon monoxide is very
dangerous-I know. It happen to us when our boys were almost 1 year
and almost 2 years old. We had had a fire in our home and after the
repairs were made we moved back in. This was in Nov. 1966. The first
night back we woke up with violent headaches. Jack took us to his
Mother's were we stayed for a few hours and then we got better. The
next night when the heat came on the same thing happen. The house had smell after the fire and we got it cleaned again. Same thing happened next night.
Well Jack called the gas co. and they checked the heating system. The
exhaust vent had NOT BEEN RECONNECT TO VENT OUT SIDE. All
was coming in the house. They fixed the problem and we all were ok.
Hope all goes well for your son's family. Olds/Maureen
So, Glad that it ended well!!!

Do they use a wood stove to heat the home or is it a supplement to a central furnace, I have a fire place but no longer use it. I would love to have gas logs, but we do not have natural gas in my area. Kay
