Always find picking up threads from the carpet a near impossible task with a vacuum cleaner. Try using one of the sticky lint rollers over the carpet - works wonderfully and also picks up the odd stray pin :) Sarah.

This sounds weird but it works-when my sewing area was on carpet I used a toilet bowl brush (bought new and used exclusively for this) and swirled it on the carpet to pick up stray threads. Made people look twice when they saw it hanging by my machines! LOL

I like the sticky idea though.

I like your idea, BUT I am tooooo old to go crawling on the floor (carpet) is it on a long handle, or maybe hubby can attach it to a broom handle for me, thanks again, I am going to look into it . rgs Carol

I have an old toothbrush that I swirly around the carpet it gets the loose threads so they don't get in the roller of the vacuum cleaner. I don't like pulling or cutting them out of the vacuum roller. I do use the lint roller for the fussy stuff.

A slightly damp rubber glove is good too. It is also good for dog hairs!

Thank you for this Sue. Having a pekingese there is always loads of fur around, especially on my clothes. I will try this.
