I am so cross with myself. On Friday I bought a shirt (I normally make them myself), mainly because it had lovely pin tucks down the front. I noticed that one of the pin tucks had not been properly caught under the collar. Not a problem - just unpick the collar a little way - push the pin tuck where it should be and sew the collar back. While I was unpicking the collar I managed to snip a piece of material (luckily the collar covers it) and make a nasty hole. I have patched it with a bit of iron on patch and will do a few zigzag stitches to hold it. I am just so cross with myself. Do other Cuties do stupid things like that? Sarah.

Oh Sarah I do it all the time and kick myself later. Sounds like you made a good save in the end though. Hugs Joyce

I found a wonderful zigzag on my machine which looks like a darning stitch - it is holding it all together.

Oh my Sarah,... They say stupid is as stupid does and I'm pretty stupid because I never learn from my mistakes. (well almost never). ROFL..... Things like that are easily done even if you are careful.... Don't be so hard on yourself. I'm sure you did a fab job of fixing it and no one is the wiser. (except us and I'm sure most of us won't see it.) hehehe.... Hugs, Terre

Thank you Terre. As you say I am the only one who knows it is there.

you know what is good when a "stupid" thing like that happens, next time you are sooooo careful not to do it again....this is not saying something else might happen, but that particular thing usually will not....part of the "experience is the best teacher" heehee! We have all been there.

Don't beat yourself up. It happens to all of us at one point or another. If we are tired or in a hurry, then it happens more often. Wear your pretty shirt and ignore the tiny blooper. No one will know the difference!! Be nice to you! You've had a hard day. :) Seriously.

Yes, I messed up the monogram on my granddaughter's dress and was very upset with myself because the "fix" did not look too good. But her mama told me not worry because when she washed it the first time the red piping trim bled all over the white corduroy and it really was a mess then! It was an expensive little dress, too. Shame on the manufacturers, but it sure made my mistake seem a little less serious. :0)

I made a zipper bag, forgot to open the zipper and when I was done I cut off the pull tab while trimming around. We all have stories we could tell but look at it as a learning experience, We'll know better next time. I bet you are the only one who would have noticed the pin tuck was out of place

Yes and remember never to do any sewing when you are tired. Made a perfect jacket and was so pleased with the result. Only had to do a last bit on the sleeve seams and decided to use the serger. Well it still turned out perfect if you wanted to permanently walk with the one hand behind the back. Could not fix it with anything - not even a button this time. Brings me to my second comment, my dad once asked me about the button at the back of the kid's sweater. Only way to fix the toddlers discovery of what a pair of scissors could do.

I was trimming the stabilizer on a large quilt block when I clipped the fabric, too. It doesn't show too much because it's a print fabric, but frustrating just the same. Maureen

I was Embroidering my Grandsons Logo on his Dickey shirts for his D.J. Business in Penna, and as I was cutting off the stabalizer on the back of the shirt Logo, my sizzors snipped the material, I had to zigzag to close the corner slit. Was so furious with myself, I had to promise to buy him another shirt & emb & send ASAP. He is soooo Particular. Hahaha! So, YES, I think we all know what you mean!!! Hugs, Judy

These are the Oops moments. Done that also. No collar to cover up so took more stitches out and pulled up into where the seam could cover it up.

Anita - I also thought of doing that but the hole goes downwards and not in line with the collar. Thank you for comment.

Hi Bettina, they are very fine pleats usually only about an 1/8th of an inch wide or less. They are very effective on women's blouses. Love Chris

Chris thank you for your help. LEO dictionaire has not found it and I thought it must be some kind of rivet. First I could not imagine Sarah with that kind of shirt but then I thought maybe she starts a new carrer in the biker-business *lol*
