Lucky you having the 12000. Do you like it? I have the Janome Digitizer Pro. Have not really done any digitizing with it, though I use it for converting and other things. Had Brother PE Design 4 back years ago. I did a little digitizing with that. Found it quite easy. Shirley

Didn't the 12000 come with digitizing software? The 11000 did. My 10001 came with Customizer which had a simple digitizing program. It wasn't very good although some Cuties here started out with it and did quite well. My dealer had great deal on Digitizer Pro 2.0 that I bought shortly after getting my machine. When the upgrade to 3.0 came out, it cost more than I paid for the full program. So I didn't upgrade. However, Janome started packaging it with the 11000SE. Now there is a whole new program out. You can check it out on Janome's website. However you should check with your dealer to find out why you didn't receive Digitizer with your machine.

It came with Horizon, but was told that it would do just so much and should think about a digitizing program.

My first question would be what do you want to do with a digitizing program? If you want to actually do manual digitizing, then get the new Janome program. It's not simple and it's not cheap. I have a Janome 300E, and I bought Digitizer Pro to go with it, and I just love it. It was easy for me to learn, because I use Microsoft Publisher, and it works along the same lines. Just learning to run the program doesn't have a thing to do with knowing how to digitize, though. That's a whole separate learning process. And no matter what people tell you, there isn't a program out there where you stick in a piece of clip art and a design comes out the other end. That's called "auto-digitizing", and I've never seen a design done that way that I would be willing to use. If you want to just be able to look at designs and change thread colors, there's free programs out there, like Tajima's Pulse Ambassador. If you want to have the thumbnails appear on your computer, SewIconz from Sands Computing is an inexpensive program for that. If you give a little more information on what you actually want to do with the program, we could probably be of more help. Hugs, Marji

Thank you so much for your answer and questions to think about. I guess I will have to learn more about the machine before I know what I want.

There is no such thing as simple digitizing, There are a lot of people who love embird. I started with and still use generations but it is complicated and I had quite a learning curve. Buzz to stitches could be an option but I have not tried it, I just know it is a lot cheaper than some of the others and I think quite basic and easy to use, but I doubt you would get the results that the more expensive programs give.

Thank you for answering my question. I will look into to buzztools. I just got the machine and after I learn more about it, hopefully I will know more about what I want and need.

You will very soon want your digitize program to expand with your knowledge.
I would try to get one that is not only basic.
I have Pe-Design and love it.
