Is any Cutie using Airplane rayon embroidery thread? It's made in Korea. On the label it says viscose rayon embroidery thread 120D/2 but it does not say 40 weight.

I bought one white 5000m spool to try. The thread seems thicker and stronger than Robison-Anton and Madeira, also is less shining. At the moment I'm using it for a FSL design and it is stitching well, but I'm not too sure if this tread is suitable for normal embroidery, as I like the softness and shine of RA, Madeira etc. Thank you for your advice.

I never heard about it until last June, when a friend of mine sent me an EmbroiderySource catalogue, I went there last week to buy some Vilene, so I bought a spool of thread to try, as well.

Don't know if this is the same-but why would 2 diff brands have airplane? You have to either put airplane in the search box to go directly to the page, or
http://www.thethreadexchange.com/...

I have some home and have had no problems with it. This is in Weavervilee, NC, close to my sister's house. Always a visit I make when I get there.

Thank you for the link, Jo. Interesting site. I don't think they are the same, probably they are two manufacturers located in different nations. Just guessing...lol

Thank you, Wendy. I have used this thread today for a FSL design of over 117,000 stitches without any problems. My machine has stopped only when it was time to replace the bobbin thread. I'm very pleased with its performance and love the price too.

Thanks to all of you for the information. The Airplane thread is being manufactured by Young Chang T&C LTD in Korea and they have distributors in USA, Australia and other countries as well. Here are a couple of links, if interested.

Thank you, Yvonne, for this link. It's a mine of information and also found that 120D/2 is for a 40 weight thread. I have saved this site in my Favorites.

I have used a number of spools of Airplane. Mine have a similiar sheen to the Marathon threads I also use. I mix them with RA threads and I haven't noticed any appreciable difference when the design is finished. I suppose there could be an odd spool which comes out less shiny during the process of manufacture but my white ones are quite shiny.

Thank you for your comment. I have never used Marathon threads so I have compared Airplane with Madeira and Robison-Anton. My machine is still stitching a FSL design with the Airplane thread without any problems, so I'm pleased.

I have never heard of airplane thread, where did you buy yours? I see a few places online but shipping seems to cost more than the thread

It's sold in Melbourne, Australia, Bev, by the same company that also sells King Star Polyester which I use. Embroidery Source.

Thank you to both of you. Embroidery Source is the Australian distributor, and there are distributors in other countries as well, including USA. I will upload a link under "Answer this Question". Hugs, Lidia
