I bought a packet of these at a sewing machine shop they were marked "quilt binding holders!" Imagine that! The only difference from hair clippies is that they are flat in the middle, no ridge for crimping the hair.....Otherwise, they are identical!

JoAnn Fabrics sell them also with the quilting supplies. I bought some but haven't used them yet. Hope they work well so I can avoid getting stabed with pins. They also work for hair clips very well!

I purchased these, but they seem like a waste of time to me. I can go faster by just turning the binding as I go and stitch by hand. I have been using mine for embroidered clippie for my GDs. Much better use for me. Hugs, Susan

Thanx Loralye-I have been using these-as well as bobby pins-for years(my Home Ec. teacher in High School showed us that tip-MANY moons ago lol)-I also use the really big ones for heavier projects-I have a box full of these and the plastic claw type hair clips that I use to hold fabric out of the way when I use the embroidery machine

me too the big hair clips are great for keeping the rolled up fabric in place! It sure makes it easier to machine quilt in the hoop!

These are a great idea, thanks for the picture, too. Actually, I think this is funny, because I've seen pretty much exactly the same thing on quilting sites, and of course being a "quilting" tool were much more expensive, hee hee hee. Great thinking, thanks for sharing! Hugs, Marji

I use the 1/2" binder clips, but I bet these would work well too. I learned long ago that blood is very difficult to remove from an almost finished project, and so incredibly frustrating. You would need the bigger ones so that they would stay closed, right?

pldc by pldc 09 Jul 2012

I use all the sizes that I can find even the little ones work well

I use these too. Not only are they great for pain-free binding, they work well when I use my serger...preventing the pins from hiding and dulling my serger knives.
