Good Morning Ladies

I have a question I hope someone can answer for me and save me alot of frustration. What kind of spray adhesive do you use and how can I keep it from clogging up.

The very best way to prevent any spray from clogging up - is to spray it upside down. The can, not you. Hehehe! *4U

I use Sulky KK2000 and so far I have had no issues. Anyway it seaslike you have very good answers already. I could not miss the opportunity of giving away a flower.

I use 505. It does not clog up. Any residue on needles or hoops I remove with DK5 by the same company. Works well. Hope you can purchase that where you live. I have also used the stuff by Madeira, but the cans are smaller and much more expensive, so now it's 505 for me.

If you can find a spray that does not gunk up your machine let me know as I have yet to find one in all that I have that I have tried. I just use a basting stitch to hold every thing in place now. I got tired of hauling out the alcohol after every time I used the adhesives...

I have used several of the ones allready listed. I also use Sticky stabilizer by sulky. ( my favorite.)haven't tried glue stick but it would be much cheaper. A flower for you.

I have always used KK2000. I have never had a can to plug up, but I see where sqdancer says hers has. I guess it could be temperature or humidity? Yet another mystery. ;)

I have been using the Sulky KK2000 and it works for me, but if I'm not wrong Cutiepie suggested many pages back that you can use Glue Sticks, I didn't try it yet but yesterday I bought some to test it . Flower and XoXo

I use my son's school glue sticks and love it - no sticky mess on my hoop, which I hate to clean

Interesting, I just looked at the can of 505 spray and it is a product of France. I assume you ladies in Europe would be able to purchase at a better price. Also the can doesn't contain all the warnings and hazards to health that the dritz can that is mfg in the USA.

I too use 505 and occasionally Clover Fabric Adhesive Stick. I get 505 up here at WalMart (Canada). I think Joanne's carries it too.

I have heard 505 was good, but could not find it. This time around I bought Craft Bond by Elmer's and have no problem with it. I wash nozzle off quickly with hot water after use and as long as it doesn't get too old. I had found an older can sitting around......what a mess that was. *4U ><>

I ordered some 505 from Shoppers Rule. I was 12.95 for 500ml. I think that is about 17 ounces. I had been using Dritz spray purchased at Joannes. I haven't uses the new 505 yet so I can't compare quality.

I use 505, but have ordered a magna hoop which eliminates the need for adhesive and/or pins.

I saw this advertised on Eileen Roche mag site. It was $189. Did you by any chance find a better price?

katydid by katydid 18 May 2008

I'm referring to the hoop, not the spray. Didn't want to give any sticker shock!!

jrob by jrob 18 May 2008

That would be the jumbo price...the regular hoop is on sale for $129.95 at Ann the Gran.

PS I have one and it is NOT for every project. ;)

I was looking for some of this just yesterday but then wasn't sure of what I really needed. Thanks for the questions jmc and thanks dlonnahawkins for your answer. The can was a bit pricey so I wanted to be sure it was the right one. *****'s for all

Hi jmcl, I use two one if 505 and the other is Sulky KK 2000. I have had no problem with 505, but the KK 2000 has clogged and I have just run the hot water tap over the nozzel (facing to the side rather than up) you should be able to see that you have a shiny like look around the hole this will wash away with the hot water and then you spray should come out okay...hope this helps ...

Thanks for sharing this - I have also been told to rinse, and then turn can upside down to spray a little - haven't tried it, but should also work.

I use a quilt basting spray - called exactly that. Quilt Basying Spray, by June tailor. I have had it a couple years, and it(meaning the spray can) has not clogged. I have to be very carefuly with this, for it is rather "fragrant", and really do not use a lot - just enough to tack the fabric down. I use this when I do applique - and ofcourse, quilts. Look forward to additional answers.

What I have is Duro All-Purpose spray adhesive and after 2-3 uses it clogs. I turn it upside down and spray out after each use but that hasn't helped. I cleaned the top with paint thinner as is suggested on can...no good either. Thanks for your help. I'll try your brand!!
