Sooooooooo Disappointed !!

Part way through an embroidery design and my machine has jammed.
Can't see what the problem is, have taken out bobbin casing, cleaned etc., no threads caught...
but the flywheel wont even move by hand.
I'm just getting a warning screen saying 'safety device activated'
Noooooooo.,
not only is this going to cost $., but I will be without my machine for 2 or 3 weeks !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks... the word 'quick' sounds nice but unlikely.

Hi "Kitty" that happened to me just after Christmas and unfortunately I had to take it in to get repaired. It was an old machine as my Husqvarna Designer 1 was in being repaired and when I got that back I took in the old one. Whilst there I had a complete overhaul and it works like a charm now. Good luck with sorting out the problem. Love Chris

Thanks chris., I think I'm going to have to 'bite the bullet' and take it in for repair. I wonder if I come home with a 2nd machine...lol.. this one is just over 12 months old :(

As Awesome1 stated about the bearings being jammed with thread, I experienced this a few years back. Needle would not go up or down. I carefully removed the left side cover, exposing the bearings near the top of the machine above the needle shaft. Threads were wrapped tightly around the bearings. I took a small pair of scissors and tweezers, clipped the threads, and removing the pieces with the tweezers, until I had it all cleaned out. I have not had this happen since, and the machine worked fine afterward. I believe a stray thread got pulled in along with the thread I was using into the thread path and got wound tightly around the bearings, as I continued to stitch. I am careful now to be sure other spools of thread are farther away from the spool I am using.
Hugs,
Angel

I've removed the cover, but can't see anything at all. If there's thread caught there it must be tiny. I so wish I could fix this myself. I'm going to have a cuppa & take another look.

So sorry to hear about your machine 'blues' - only hope it is nothing major. Hope to hear you could fix it yourself.***

here's the url I have taken the cover off and cleaned mine 3 or 4 times since I learned how. The broken threads embedded in the bearing can sometimes be carefully picked out with a sharp hat pin.

My insides look a little different, but still I can't see any threads caught up at all.

very good and bookmarked

I had looked & looked for threads & got all I could see, yet still frozen. My service man loosened screw, got a gob of thread lint out with dental pick. I may grab a screwdriver next time!!

I'm going to jump in & say it's prob threads wrapped in the bronze bearing (up top).exactly as my Bro ULT did a few wks ago. You might be able to clear it yourself but DO NOT force the handwheel..only attempt turning it backwards. Go to http://www.annsultfixit.com/UltFi... manual for fixing problems.. right away & read the manual-maybe you can do the repair yourself.

Wow thanks for that info.
I've been to the site and had a good look around my machine as much as I could. I can't see any threads wrapped around anything at all.

You said you turned it off and that didn't help. Shirlene mentioned actually unplugging it and wait a minute and plug it back in. Someone else had a similar problem not long ago and this was suggested and it worked for them.
Hopefully you have a good repairman - some, when called, will always tell you to bring it in (more $ for them).

I am sorry this has happened to you. You have tried all that was suggested and if it grinds, it's off to the repair shop.
I will pray for you that it's just a minor thing.

Hugs, Bonnie

Kitty, what sort of machine do you have - my 'safety device activated' comes on - now and again - but I can usually follow the proceedure outlined in the manual - take the throat plate off - clean the area around the bobbin casing and the area around it - really well - with a brush and clean soft cloth - then put it all back together and then unplug the machine and plug it back in - then the warning is off and I can proceed with my work. Try something - before you take it in and it cost you money and weeks without it.

Oh., so wish that would work for me.
I took the cover plate off, gave it a good clean, but it is still jamming. I could gently move it (the flywheel) a little to a point., but then I could feel a scraping. Everytime I turn it off and try again, the warning comes on !!!
I can't think what else to do.

kitty2011 by kitty2011 23 May 2012

...the warning comes back on. I don't know what else to do !!!
Oh. forgot to mention, it's a Brother Innovis900
