Thank you for asking. I've been quilting for 16 years and never heard the term before. I learned something new today!

Your welcome. We all learn something new all the time. Mainly because they keep inventing something new all the time. LOL

Well, I've been quilting for nearly 30 years and I've never heard of it either... until now. Thankyou for asking that question and thank you, Linda, for enlightening us.
I just love the way quilting fabrics are cut to order, displayed and named these days.

An aside here... I had immense fun at the quilt camp last year when I made a jelly roll quilt top, this way....

http://www.quilt-video.com/2011/0... ...

and within two hours the little camp quilt shop was swamped with enthusiastic jelly roll buyers and the machines were buzzing. Little old 'quiet-as-a-mouse' Me (haha) had taught the "experienced quilters" a thing or two..... :} ...... I taught my friend, too, but she got a tad concerned because two pieces of the same colour were touching. Sometimes we go scratching for things to have a good worry about.

I like the way you put that, Alma -'scratching for things to worry about'. So many people do that!

Your welcome Almag & thank you for the link to the jelly roll quilt...I just happen to have won one at our quilt club meeting a few months back & was wondering what in the world was I going to do with it. I have never use any pre-cut fabrics before in my quilts.

I also just won a jelly roll and thought I might try top with them also. I'll have to refresh my mind as to how it is done.

Moda (a brand of fabric) has developed a new line of products. Quilt shops and some fabric stores carry them. A turnover is a "stack" of precut triangles. A Jelly roll is a "wheel" of 40 or so 2 1/2" strips, tied tightly together. A honey bun is slightly smaller, possibly wider strips, can't remember, a layer cake is 12" squares, charm pack 5" squares, etc. A line of fabric is chosen, precut and sold for convenience. Linda

Thank you Linda I was wondering if there was a special ruler I had to buy for this. Looks like a couple of other quilters are finding out something they didn't know either. Thanks for all the terms. I knew a jelly roll & a charm pack only.
