Question. When sewing the towel holders onto the towel, what happens to the back. Do you use a color backing or use same color in the bobbins, or just leave it be?? ?Very interested to hear what you cuties do.

It depends also on the design I think.
I have made lots with towel holders, I now do it as follows.
If I do the hole onto the fabric of the towel, I just use the same colour bobbin thread as the top. If I add the hole above the towel I add a piece of fabric to match the towel and then stitch the design with the bobbin matching the top, so it looks like it is reversible.

Hope this helps hugs Yvonne

The only one I've ever done, I did without any backing at all. It turned out great...on one side. If I made any more, I would know to put a piece of fabric on the back to either match the design (I did a dinosaur) or the towel, depending on my mood at the moment. I suppose you could even use bobbin thread to match the top thread and make it reversible. If I do more, then I kind of like the idea of having it reversible best. Give yourself artistic license. Practice on a scrap until you find exactly what suits you. They are fun to make.

I have made a few using the circle part posted in DBC and appliqued a complimentary piece of fabric and stabalizer on the front and the back for the support of the hole. I needed to zig zag the bottom portion manually and trim to finish off. Quite a complicated affair, but satisfying nevertheless. I also did one with a little Chef, also appliqued, and added the matching backing after the design.

complicated but satisfying, I also used a Chef which was an applique, and added the complimentary fabric on the back at the satin stitch outline.

I like the finished back myself. So I make the back the same material (or coordinated) as the material on the front.

It would be up to you. I like mine neatened up so I use the same color bobbin as the top thread and slide a piece of fabric underneath to match the top.;)

I've wondered that too! It will be great hearing the answer. I've never done one, but would like to! Thanks for asking the question!
