Hey Cuties - my machine is fixed!!!! I did it! That manual is great! $20.00 instead of $200-$300 plus $50 shipping that Singer wanted to charge me. It only took me 15 minutes (Singer would have done it in 5 minutes or less and boy, what a profit). Tomorrow I will start getting my orders done and out of here. I'm so excited! Thank you for referring me to the yahoo group - now I have to head over there and tell Jim THANK YOU! And CUTIES: thank you all so very much for being there for me! You all have really touched my heart and soul! Love and Hugs to you all! ~ Sherry ~

From Jim at the singer futura yahoo group. He wrote it and did a beautiful job on it. Very explanatory and great, color pictures. :)

Glad you got your machine up and running. And saved a bundle in the process. Way to go! A lot of women just figure they can't do something until they get pushed into a corner, like you did, and then "take the bull by the horns" and tackle whatever it is and discover they can.
After my first husband died there were a lot of things that he did that I either was "his helper - or should we say go-pher", or I watched him just to keep him company and didn't realize I had learned more than I realized and was able to take care of things I wouldn't have otherwise.
So what are you tackling next?

Thank you! Definitely a lot easier than I thought. I have always been mechanically inclined so it takes a lot to totally scare me away. :) I got my coffee cup cozies done, my school passes done and now I am working on a "in the hoop baby quilt". Interesting and I am enjoying it. I have about 1/2 of the blocks done.

Sherry, I am so happy you got it fixed, and saved a lot of money! It really perturbs me immensely to learn how repairs are ridiculously an overcharge for what is involved to fix something! But, I guess a lot of money is made from others lack of knowledge; that is called "business"!! So glad you search for the fix, and did it yourself!!
Hugs,
Angel

Thank you. If I couldn't have fixed it the poor thing would be wrapped up and sitting in the corner of my closet right now - and for how long, I have no idea. But glad that she is out in the open and working. :)

Thanks. Got a couple things stitched out now I'm having issues with my hoop. I tell ya, if it's not one thing its another. I ended up taking the screw out of my smaller hoop and the bigger hoop doesn't quite like it but so far its working. Off to order another hoop - ugh! What a morning already. lol

GREAT ! Don't you just feel proud if you can fix something youself ? I do. Once I had problems with my drying machine, a rubber band was broken, and I also googled on the internet got a manual, order the new part, opened the machine at the back... And yes I also took me some time before I got it fixed.. But afterwards I felt soooo proud. I said to myself " yes I did it" . (you don't need to be a man to do these things- so guys-) I always say give it a try. If it doesn't work, what did you lose, it is not working at this moment also...

Thank you. Your story reminded me that years ago I fixed the heating element in our dryer - and boy, if I could fix that then I can fix anything. lol :)

Party, party, party!!!! I'm so thrilled for you. Isn't it great that when you put your mind to it, you can do stuff you never may have dreamed you could!
This will give you so much confidence to tackle other jobs and hopefully inspire a few more cuties as well. Extremely well done. Good on you!

I've got about 3 orders that I had to put a hold on but now this weekend I can finish them and get them sent out. I have a couple quilts that I'm doing: western theme, breast cancer theme (both of those were from a block swap on DBS) and a baby quilt that I'm doing in the hoop -will have all those up for sale for the rescue. Everything I make I try to sell for the rescue - economy has hurt our monthly donation database. It's hard but we're making it.

Glad you are able to make items to sell for your horses again. My girlfriends sister has a few rescue horses and they are expensive to feed.

lawmedassistant by lawmedassistant 21 Apr 2012

Very expensive. Not only do you give them feed, but hay, vet and farrier ..... We do get some donations which help out but since the economy took a nose dive we lost quite a few of our supporters. :( But we are making it and no plans on closing. :)

Is there a website for the manual. i need this for a Singer ce-250 that has been sitting in a corner.

lawmedassistant by lawmedassistant 20 Apr 2012

Go to http://www.singertexas.com/
in the search block type in "manual". There are a couple. I had to get the timing manual - but I am going back and getting the other one too. It goes over everything: cleaning, oiling, etc. 198 pages. Don't pay singer when you can do it yourself. :)

lawmedassistant by lawmedassistant 20 Apr 2012

singer when you can do it yourself. :)

bevintex by bevintex 20 Apr 2012

I did pay a local repairman, charged me $150.00, worked for a very short time and I did not want to put more money into it.

lawmedassistant by lawmedassistant 20 Apr 2012

ewwww, frustrating. Also join the singer futura yahoo group (if you have a singer)or maybe even if not. Jim can probably tell you where to go for help if he can't help you. I won't ever send my singer off again. Service people just charge way to much, especially if it is a simple fix of only 5 min., ewwww the thought of them making money. yuk! :)
