I was visting my sewing store and had the chance to see a demonstration of the Janome 1200 Memory Craft. Does anyone have one or know anything about them? The store is having a special for $8.5K US. I just love it...it comes with a big hoop 8x12. Nice looking machine. Would appreciate any info. I have a Bernian now with ART. files I'd have to go with JEF. files.

Well I spent the day checking out different conversion programs....I don't know if I'm going to make this purchase. Converting designs seems like a chore and if I get buzz tools or the other programs all I can do is convert. How do I add lettering and all the other things one can do with software...exhausted LOL

Thanks for all your advice and suggestions.

If you have a lot of designs you would need to convert, d/l embird and use it - you get a month free. I think you should ask your dealer about the lettering etc. Figure out what else you want to know and have them show you.

May be a good deal but before you plunk down big money I would look at the "high end" machines from all makers (Brother/Babylock, Viking, Bernina, etc.) to be sure it is as good as deal as you think and that one does not have more "features" than the Janome. I would also test drive the machines at the deal to see how it "feels" to you. I have the Brother Quattro and it has an 8*12 (200*300) hoop too (and I love it). The Quattro is the twin to the BabyLock Elissimo.

I would recommend highly that you look into the Baby Lock Ellisimo...I had a Janome 11000SE and had so many problems with it..back to Janome factory 3 times and replaced twice...Finally got a refund. Bought the Ellisimo...way more features..much better quality machine...lots more hoop options...less money!!! I would not give up my Ellisimo for ANYTHING! Would not recommend Janome 12000...and I have owned the Janome 8000 for 23 years with no problems! My opinion only, but look carefully before you buy...there is a reason that they're trying to suck you in with a "free computer"...nothing is "free"!

Interesting...it's so hard to make a decision. I was actually looking to get the Bernina 830. I'm hearing about problems with it....so scarey when your spending so much money. Thank you

I had a Janome Memory 7 for over 30 yrs. with no problems and now I have the Janome MC11000SE that I bought about 3 yrs. ago and have had no problems other than once I had a problem with the bobbin case - which was actually operator error and has never happened since and no other problems when the thread is in correctly. But then again I'm sure we can all get a "lemon" in any brand.

I have had a lot of tension problems with my 11000 Machine. It has been to 3 different techo guys, also back to factory. Fingers crossed the last techo guy has set it right. I have been using it quite a lot and it seems to be a lot better, I have also over the years had the 8000, 9000, and 10000. Had no problems with them.

I was invited to the launch of the Janome 12000. It is an awesome machine. The dealer here put together such a good deal for it, that if I could have, I would have bought it! Here in Alberta, Canada it sells for $8999 and sometimes they run specials. It comes with 4 hoops. I currently have a Janome MC11000SE. I came with a computer as a bonus (it was a special deal put together by Dell and Janome) - I only use this computer for my emb. With the 12000 you use the screen on the computer as your sew/emb machione screen. I have wilcom true sizer and pulse ambassador to convert designs to what you need. I usually save pes or convert to pes (this was the format suggested by the lady who teaches how to use your machine - she said pes has the truest color - I also use JEF or SEW. So, there is no additional cost for this as these are free programs. I love my Janome 11000, but I sure would love to have the 12000 - it has so many features and is very user friendly.
But not to forget - you should still have a look around at other machines to make sure this is the one you want and you have a good dealer! Check to see what all comes with it. Good luck with whatever you decide and let us know!

I noticed in another post you mention buzz tools for converting - just d/l either wilcom true sizer or pulse ambassador - they're free and if for some reason one doesn't convert something in particular the other does.

Thank you so much...I'm pretty much sold. My dealer is offering pretty much the same deal. Being I don't need a computer he said he could take off anothr $500.
Thank you for the software tips. I love the idea of free.

Will the 1200 machine read PES?

blueeyedblonde by blueeyedblonde 25 Mar 2012

I believe so. Just check with your dealer. I didn't need a computer either, but it came with mine and I liked the idea of having a laptop just for embroidery. I have all my design on it and I also got the Digitizer Jr. with mine and that's the program I use to change a few things and then send it from my computer to the sewing machine.

Wow...if it reads PES it would be wonderful. I could still use my artista software and just save the design in PES.

I just got an email from Janome that you also get a computer with the 12000. I don't need a computer but I would really like that machine. Maybe!!

I have a Bernina 730 and really love it. I was looking into getting the 830 so I can have a larger hoop. From what I've checked the Janome, currently, has the biggest hoop. My dealer is taking off several thousand, the machine is new with all sorts of goodies. Looks awsome. I just have to talk hubby into letting spend more money for another machine. I would sell my 730 but I have lots and lots of extra feet, and just about all the other things you can get. A fortune and I kow NO One would be willing to spend what I need. I have to SAVE UP and check other machines out. Thank you

Wouldn't I just love a 830, but I cannot justify that kind of money. I understand the larger hoop - all the other machine(440,640,580(new) 740?) all take the same size hoops as far as I knw has the same embroidery unit. However, having had a Bernina 440(got stolen) I love the Bernina products. But must admit have no experience of any other brand. I know Pfaff have far larger hoops. Enjoy it when you buy your new machine. Elizbeth

If you are spending that much, go for the best, Husqvarna Viking Designer Diamond Deluxe. They run sales regularly, or may even get one that was traded in as I did. They are fantastic machines and sew like a dream. Good luck. Nan W

I think I seen it at my Jo-Ann Fabric store. It is a nice machine and not as costly as the Janome and Bernia. If I remember correctly the machine is cheaper than Bernia or Janome but you have to purchase the larger hoops at an extra expense. I guess in the long run they are all pretty much around the same amount. Thank you

At least you would be able to convert your designs rather than having to buy all new, wouldn't you? Or could you? If you get it, I hope you absolutely love it!! Good luck.

Converting may be a problem, someone just told me about Buzz tools. Just another purchase, more money.
