I remember my mother having one on her treadle machine. It was just a plain piece of fabric hand stitched around the top of the machine.( the machine I learned to sew on .) Brings back good memories.

Haven't seen a wrap-around machine pin cushion in over 30 years.. thanks for the memories. It was like watching one of those 1950s newsreel in my head as I waited for the thread to open. Starting with the bone coloured one wrapped around the top part of an old industrial machine. :-)

Love this idea! I would cut a piece out of bacon plastic and put it in the back of this band to help protect the machine. Also, if you insert the pins at an angle they may not poke the machine at all.

Adding a thin strip of leather (or fake leather) and covering it with ultra suede works great and would prevent needles hurting machine.Remember you are only using this to hold pins while sewing you can always transfer them to a regular pin cushion when you are done..

interesting-wouldn't work on any of my machines though-that's where all the stitch selections and functions are-guess I'll just stick with my magnetic grab-it and pin box that I have used for ??? 4-ever? lol. Cute idea though

Just DO NOT place your magnetic pin holder close to your embroidery (or computer) machine .

The embroidery machine companies are selling magnetic hoops now so obviously the magnets don't affect the machines at all. However Husqvarna does warn that if You have a pacemaker to check with your doctor.

Great idea, but unfortunately I can not use it as the D1 has a screen what shows all. Would not like to covert that, but is jolly good idea for some machines

Wouldn't this scratch up your machine when you add the pins?

I agree, it will damage your machine

Considering the machine companies are making hoops with which you use magnets to secure the item being embroidered I don't think the magnetic pincushion will do any harm at all.

Great idea!! Thanks for sharing the link!! I will make one so instead of pins lying loose all over the table of my machine they will be where they should be!I will have to go up and around the top of my machine though{commercial}
