I see that you want more information
My prefered colour is blue, but I like bright colours and also pastel, but I do not like beige or brown.
I love flowers especially roses, the nature. My prefered animals are cats and dogs.I like useful things, that I can use , as towels dish towels, table cloth or table runner, I like very much all embroideries on clothes
I have made embroideries only for my children, Granchildren and friends, never for me, so I will be happy with anything made for me

Hi Ladies and my SS
My favourite colours are orranges, greens, browns and yellows. I just love roosters! I like fancy things for my kitchen such as appliance covers - tea cosy, toaster cover, mixer cover, fancy dish towels, towel toppers etc. That's Me! :-)
I just love this site!

I like Butterflies Purples pinks burgandy and soft greens. Not a fussy cutie, I like useful things that can be used and not stored away and forgotten. Anything made with love is fine by me.

Sorry about the delay. Could not think about what to say:I'm practical and don't like clutter. Adore Peter Rabbit,Laura Ashley colors(soft pastels ) Little Red Riding Hood.Grow roses, gardenias, Hollyhocks, and Morning glories. Can't wait for spring. Herbs are something that I love to grow but the birds eat them faster than I can plant them.Have a fairy garden in back and a terrarium inside.Love to bake Coconut cakes. Favorite color is teal/turquoise.I do hand embroidery only because I can't find the designs for the machine and I do not know how to digitize.Somebody once gave a beautiful patchwork bunny but the face was SCARY-I had to give it away.I always have a little red wagon carries groceries, garden stuff and I can put my garbage cans to put out on the curd a lot easier..Sorry do not like cats.Am a bird watcher.I just bought some beautiful mangel cloth for my dining room table only because the table is so long and I can't find pretty tablecloths/runners for it.

If a SS was to make things for table settings, such as placemats, wine coasters, table napkins or even the project that Chris is talking about, does one make 6? 8? 12? How many table settings?

Okay…here goes:

I love to sew, embroider, quilt, and knit, but never have as much time as I want...I have to work to pay for my hobbies...ha! ha!

My favourites: blue, black, burgundy, Victorian, Delft, funny.

My favourite flowers are forget-me-nots, violets, daisies, and roses, and I love trees.
I’m not much into animals, but I do love birds, especially loons, chickadees, bluebirds, and cardinals.
My kitchen is blue and white and I have a small Delft collection.
My formal dining room is peach and pale blue; I have antique blue/white Currier-Ives dishes.
Master Bath: olive green, off-white
Powder Room: dusty rose

You know what they say about the shoemaker’s children???
Well, I don’t have anything made or embroidered, etc. for my own sewing room!!! I’d love anything sewing-themed, Victorian or funny, and love the pincushions, the thread baskets, scissors holders, etc. that I’ve seen on cuties. I hope to eventually redecorate my sewing-room in tones of blue.

I hope this answers any questions my SS might have. I am very easy to please, really, and I so appreciate anything hand-made, as I know how much work and love go into gifts  Towels, and place-mats, and table-runners are always welcome, aren’t they? And, of course, one can never have too many tote bags, purses, wallets, etc., can they? I love the ones with lots and lots of pockets to help organize stuff.

Happy sewing and creating, everyone!

I suppose I ought to do this properly!
Mike and I walk about 5 miles each morning with our dog (a three-legged border collie) but I like to spend much of the rest of the day in my sewing cave while he paints or works at his lathe. When we are not at home you would find us in the mountains or walking along a deserted beach.
We are not frilly people! Our home is mainly beige, cream and dog hair.
I have always loved embroidery in all of its types, but, as I said before I do like functional and I adore fabric. (I'm so jealous of those of you who have amazing choice where you live, I often recycle old materials because I can't replace them.)
I love natural designs although I don't mind the odd cartoon. As you all know, I'm into 3D at the moment. I just love creating something.
I love colour, but prefer spice and earth colours to brights.
I do have other hobbies - Mike and I are folk musicians and perform frequently so we do need to practice. We are currently working on our 3rd CD.

by shuede 18 Jan 2012

I’ve already given my likes/dislikes to my Secret Sister, but here’s more detail:
I love any flower, but I especially love roses, pansies, hydrangeas, gardenias, gladiolus, African violets, and irises.
I love all birds and have two male cockatiels named Cocoa and Mr. Wonderful.
Dogs: German Shepherd, Yorkshire terrier, and Australian Shepherd.
I have a five-year-old daughter and have collected more children’s designs than possible to sew.
I live in the hills and enjoy all of nature. I love trees, any kind, but I love oak trees the best.
Favorite colors: Purples, pinks, blues, cream. The only color I’m not fond of is orange, unless it’s a design related to Halloween or in a flower scheme.
Favorite type designs: Flowers, fairies, butterflies, hearts, trees, birds, nature of any kind, gardens, geishas, Asian designs, fantasy designs, animals of any kind. My favorite type of embroidery is a filled design followed by appliqué. I also like simple tone-on-tone designs. I like more classic or traditional style … or certain fantasy. I’ve purchased fairy designs from BFC-Creations and have yet to make anything with them.

Not fond of prim/country designs or colors.

I’d also love something useful, but anything embroidered would be just great!

My house is beige's, and brown with touches of blue. I love the ocean and tropical. I like simple and function over frill and lace. My kitchen table is round and my dining room table is a rectangle. I like bags, table runners, coasters, and towels.
I dislike cats.
I love Christmas and snowmen. For Christmas, I am a red and green color fan.
Hugs, Judy

Tigers or lions, hephelants, zebras or giraffes, dogs, chooks, birds, ducks, geese???? Any faves?
Favourite flowers??? I'm compiling a master list but getting info is like pulling teeth. hahahaha

alexgrandma by alexgrandma 20 Jan 2012

I have some cows in my kitchen and some elephants in my sewing room. We have wild parrots on the phone line in the backyard. I like tropical flowers, and daisies. We do have a dog that barks at the parrots!

by bnilla9241 18 Jan 2012

Nature, natural type things, growing things, something I can use for the church bazzar, or share with other people, are among my first likes. I wish to travel to Europe, Germany, Austria, Switzerland. I have always wanted to go to Austrailia or New Zealand.
I am one of those earthy colors people, but, I love my brights too!
I do not care for Naughty santa type designs, but that's just me.
I am in a wheelchair so functionality is a must.
Please no slippers as I would only use the left one!, LOL,,, Things hung on the walls are not my first choice.
I adore cats! I have 4. I like most all flowers, not necessarily Hawiian type. My favorite flowers are fuschias, the dark contrasting pinks and purples are best.
Christmas and Easter are my favorite holidays.
I like designs for tea towels, but I like detailed designs too.
My favorite colors are in the pink, purple, and earthy colors, but not so much greens or oranges.
My kitchen is golden oak type, and I have some embroidered grapes on my curtains.
My appliances are stainless steel.
My bathrooms could use a splash of color as they are both white and beige tones.
In all, I am not too picky.

I adore music!!! My husband is a retired orchestral musician.

I like easy going music, like Josh Groban, Bocelli, John Denver, etc.

I love to bake!!!
Mostly breads, rolls, things with hearty grains.

I love the SNOW!! FSL snowflakes are one of my favorite things to embroider!

My download type is PES, but I can convert most any design.
I like to sew and am making my first detailed quilt. I have sewn for many years, mainly children's clothes, I have 3, I have 2 granddaughters

Any gift from the heart is fine by me!

Hugs, Bonnie

Hi, from reading a post, I guess I didn't give enough information about likes/dislikes for the SS. So, here goes:
Dislikes: coffee, cats (allergic), fuschia, futuristic-type anything, science fiction, cold weather
Likes: simplicity, iced tea, springtime (and the colors of spring, especially greens), function over frilly, anything to help get organized for my computer or sewing. I love my church, my family, sewing, quilts, making candy, volunteering. I don't pamper myself, because there's no time! I'd rather laugh than get upset about something. I don't do fancy entertaining or decorating. Clean and comfortable is my decorating style, and I just kind of aim at the clean, and mostly miss. I am not picky, I hope.

Better, but this is ALL about pampering YOU, so what about....
Tigers or lions, hephelants, zebras or giraffes, dogs, chooks, birds, ducks, geese???? Any faves?
Favourite flowers??? I'm compiling a master list but getting info is like pulling teeth. hahahaha

parkermom by parkermom 18 Jan 2012

wow--I guess I need some work! Here is some more info (I feel so guilty, like I'm making hints!) Love dogs, giraffes, cute ducks, elephants, don't know what a chook is, scared of geese. Favorite flower? Daisies, bright yellow tulips. I like things that are happy, restful, peaceful. Loud, jarring patterns and music bother me. Love traditional patchwork, and vintage-looking fabrics and colors. Mother goose more than fairies. I'm very conservative, but I wish I was a little less so. Kids are grown, no grandkids yet, but I just can't wait to be a grandmother! Can't classify any part of my house as "fancy". I'm a redhead, so I lean toward the warmer colors rather than cool. Peach more than pink, yellow more than gray. I love to sew and read and play on the computer. Love towels of all kinds. No themes in kitchen or bath--just warm colors and golden wood. Wow, am I boring!! To top it off, I have taught math for 21 years! Maybe I need to shake things up a bit!

parkermom by parkermom 18 Jan 2012

that are happy and peaceful. Mother goose more than fairies. Yellow more than gray, peach more than pink. Chocolate anytime, anywhere! Love traditional patchwork, and vintage fabric

parkermom by parkermom 18 Jan 2012

Love towels of any kind, any texture. Dont like loud, jarring patterns, colors, or music. Boy, am I boring! To top off my nerd-ness, I have taught math for the last 21 years!

meganne by meganne 23 Jan 2012

Nothing Nerdy there! And the whole idea is not hinting it is informing your SS so the poor gal can be sure you will "LOVE" what she makes you.

I will be delighted with any gift as I know my secret birthday cutie will have made/bought it especially for ME! But to help you out a bit .....
I love bright colours, especially blues, purples and yellow - green is not my thing.
I'm the outdoor type, enjoy walking, gardening and cycling. We have a tandem as well as a 20yr old campervan and are members of both The National Trust and The Woodland Trust.
Favourite places to walk - in no special order - beach, cliffs, woods and moors.
I love all animals,( we live on a farm) especially dogs - greyhounds/lurchers/dalmations and labs - wildlife and birds, favourite being moose/reindeer the Great Spotted Woodpecker, the Green Woodpecker and the Barn Owl.
I'm an avid reader of English detective fiction - sorry, don't like American novels.
I can't knit any more due to painful wrists and I never learnt to crochet but I make my own cards and do a bit of glass and silk painting.
I have a Brother Innov-is 700E so I use PES format and Isacord thread. I like to do In the Hoop, Applique and FSL.
Kitchen (no colour scheme) has a farm animal theme, bathroom (cream/brown) is the gallery for our watery holiday photos.
I'd like to try my hand at a simple quilted bag but would need a pattern - Idea!
I do hope this helps. Hug to you all.

Wow! what a task you've set yourself. Wish I had the time to do the same. Here goes with some extra info ....I like full length cotton aprons, not keen on doileys. Use placemats every day so always useful, don't use table runners. Favourite flowers freshias, lily of the valley, snowdrops. I like classical, country and sea shanty music.
I've looked daily but in vain, my SS has not posted here yet!

zoefzoef by zoefzoef 19 Jan 2012

okay. I've printed the SS-list of Meganne, and will add some more personal info
Love sharks, cats, rabits. Hobbies -beside sewing- : learning Spanish, working the in garden, do not really care about TV (some people can get so upset if they do not see progam X or Y, to me it doesn't matter) I usually see the beginning of a movie and the end. In the middle it seems that I always fall asleep. Favourite actors : Will Smit & Richard Gere :-))
I'm more a classic person (no antiques), prefer pratcial things; Love aprons, place mats, table runners, doily's, like hand made bags but not those very big ones (then I would take too much stuff with me I guess)
To be honest; I do not have close friends like ex my husband or daughter have. I guess you are more close than most of the people I know. It has always been like this. At school I also had only 1 girlfriend. But now with you all, I have so many friends :-)
Well Meganne, is this okay or do you need more :-))

After reading meganne's rant, I will add more to my previous post. I love kitchen items like placemats and tablerunners that match the seasons or holidays. I also love tote bags and purses. Not into vintage or antiques, my house is mostly traditional, with a western touch in the living area (not Southwestern!). Hope all this helps my SS. Thanks. Nan Weber

Hi all,

I love BLUE! As my home colours are blue and cream most of the rooms revolve around those colours. I love table runners and have them in my loungeroom and on my dining table. My bathroom is navy blue and white. My upstairs bathroom is cream/neutral/lemon (it was the original bathroom and hasn't been changed - YET!) My kitchen is cream and I I prefer machine embroidery or appliqued designs of Roosters on tea towels. I love aprons - the easier the better! (check out my christmas ones from The DIY Dish.com) I like waist styled aprons. I basically prefer things that are useful!!!!! Hope this will help my Secret Birthday Cutie. Love and blessings Chris

Kitchen/dining/lounge are greys so all colors go! Easy!!!
bedroom has grey walls and burgandy drapes
Likes - tote bags, runners, ITH kitchen towels with the hangers, FSL (not so much bowls).
love butterflies, dragonflies, birds - used to breed rainbow lorikeets - had a galah and white cockatoo when I was still married back when.
Dislikes - frills not me at all..
Whoever was my SS knows I love snowman must have seen my Christmas shirt back with all the snowman on it.
I am not fancy just down to earth, practial - Mostly I love hand crafted that has a use!!! Love to be surprised. Hugs Sally

I, too, loved all the gorgeous table runners designed by the SS's. But in my little two bedroom bungalow where 2nd bedroom is my sewing room, my small round table that seats four isn't very elegant. I sew for my grandsons as they are the focus of my life these days so frilly things don't interest me. About the only design category I don't like is Prim. Sorry this sounds rather negative! But I love just about everything dusty blue pink purple realistic done on anything.

meganne by meganne 18 Jan 2012

Sweetie this is about what YOU like for YOU, it is not about what, or who, you are sewing for, unless you would like to receive fabric to make things for your grandsons and THAT is not the purpose of this.
Do you have room to hang a wall hanging or embroidered picture?
Surely there is something you have seen & thought Oh Gosh I'd just love to have that!! What do you mean when you say Prim designs, give us an idea.
If your SS recipient gave you so little to go on, how would you feel?
Sorry, don't mean to sound harsh if it comes out that way, it is just so frustrating for the giver if she has no idea what her recipient likes.

Something for a small round kitchen table(blue/grey flooring and counter top so anything to accent-floral, birds, butterflies), replacement covers for couch pillows (have 12" forms (navy/burgundy color pallet), maybe guest towels for the bathroom in cream and dusty rose colors. Nothing for walls or using Prim (primative) designs. Everyone must have seen all the free Prim Nativity-not my cup of tea.

meganne by meganne 21 Jan 2012

Well done, now your SS has something to work with. Can't say I noticed the primitive designs but sounds like I also wouldn't like them. :-)

thecraftycritter by thecraftycritter 22 Jan 2012

You are such a task master!! I never think of what I want, only what I can do for others. On gifts for others, just make something you would love to receive and it is sure to please has always been my families philosophy. But I have given your request my best shot.

thecraftycritter by thecraftycritter 22 Jan 2012

Sorry I was one that only gave a couple of colours and animals. I might add that my colour scheme for kitchen and dining room is pink and green and I have now added ming blue and orange. I do like lace and pretty things but most of all I like suprises. I also would not like to stress out my partner to have to go out and buy those particular colours if she has a cupboard full of material. I will be happy with any gift from my birthday cutie.

I love my country Australia, &, as my birthday falls in July(have parties for Christmas in July) I would love anything made using Aussie fabrics(birds, animals, flowers) &/or anything Christmas. Other than that anything FSL (not fsl bowls- get too dusty here on the farm). My other hobbies are photography, quilts, miniatures(dolshouses). My favourite colours are yellow, pink, red & green.
My dislikes are sunbonnet designs or Annie dolls, halloween, silly animals/people

Wanted to add that the only cows I love are the REAL ones- I went though the cow stage & was given so many silly cows that collected dust & I also embroidered cows on anything that mooooded, I mean moved, that I'm over it.But....if my SS made me something with cows on it then I would still be grateful as I know it was made with Cutie Love.

Below is one link to SS likes.
Suggest you all add it to bookmarks or copy and paste into a word document, which is what I am going to do.

I'll keep looking for the other posts and will add them here too.

Well, I don't have a fancy house and I can never find the top of my kitchen table for a runner or place mats but there were so many beautiful things that everyone made for the Christmas Secret Santa so I am including the link to those for some other things.
http://answers.cuteembroidery.com...
I don't do any quilting things and my machine will only do 4x4. I love the towel hangers some of you have done. I especially love the pink floral bag made for Terri (twee), and the blue floral set made for grafiau, the doilies made for Gayle 950 are beautiful, there are nice tissue holders and in the hoop things I can't make. I just love surprises. Love butterflies and hummingbirds too. Blues are where I tend to end up but I love pastels of all shades. I hope I have not overwhelmed my Secret birthday sister but I just basically love everything, lol.
Hugs, Debra

Very informative answer Debra. The more information you give your SS, the easier it is for her to choose something to make for you. Well done. Hugs n roses, Meganne

Or harder it is, lol.

meganne by meganne 18 Jan 2012

No, some of us have great difficulty "THINKING UP" projects. I myself am challenged in this way, I have absolutely NO imagination! I SWEAR IT IS TRUE, just ask Polly or Chris, they'll tell you how I struggle for ideas.
If someone SHOWS me something, I can make it from scratch, without a pattern even as I can draft my own, but I'll be damned if I can "think up" things to make. I buy designs, I buy fabrics, but have no idea what to make with them.
I need to have a project first, THEN buy the fabric or designs to use with it.
I am sure there must be many others like me, I can't be the only one who is so project idea challenged. LOL!!!

I love sooo many things but I'll try to narrow this down a bit. I love farm animals, well of course I live on a farm. Chickens, cows, rabbits. Any type of wildlife. Love red, kitchen is red with apple and of course cow and chicken designs. Sewing room is a soft yellow. Love pastel colors, lavender is favorite. So anything from my secret sister will be cherished. Gee Monika, you are very game saying that, I could think of many strange gifts I have received that I wasn't thrilled about, some were so OFF that they set me to wondering what it was the giver was trying to tell me. LOL!!!

Even my own dear Sister has given me gifts that have left me cold. Blue fabric place mats and serviettes.
Brown & cream fabric place mats and serviettes.
A hideous, vibrant orange and yellow Blouse (like nails on a chalk board)
Oh the list goes on and on and on, and I haven't the heart to tell her how much they are NOT me.

I should say I am lucky she never visits me so she doesn't know I don't use them.
I would never deliberately hurt her feelings.

At my age you really want something you can really use and not end up in a drawer. I live earthy colours and at this stage I am hooked on quilting and the making of bags, any bags

Hey All, this is mjjust2ofus and my passion is quilting. But since embroidery came along it makes my task a lot easier. I love the ITH quilt piecing designs. Thread and fabric make the quilt but the design is what makes it come to life!

Hugs,

just to add a little to this, I am redoing my sewing room. I love small wall hangings, pictures and boxes that would fit in a sewing room theme. Love red, red, red! My kitchen is read and kind of old Italian. I am not pickie, I love it all! :)

It was a thread originally started by camylow, if that helps any. Thanks for sending out another email. I'm hoping everyone will respond, especially my SS!!

sewbadly by sewbadly 18 Jan 2012

I just read meganne's rant at:
http://answers.cuteembroidery.com...
Time to flesh out my comments....

sewbadly by sewbadly 18 Jan 2012

Anything related to sewing or embroidery is cheerfully welcomed. Assume I have nothing and you are not too far off. (I made my pin cushion in 7th grade.)
I love bags... it is a weakness of sorts but who does it hurt and it provides an opportunity for my husband to again shake his head and chuckle at my folly.
If I see a bag with organizational options, well... it's kinda like someone just gave me a hot fudge sundae... yum!
Fabric? Nothing light weight or delicate... I like function... something I could get down on the floor and wrestle with (if I had any hope of getting back up off the floor again).
Colors: I stated I like primary colors but really I can not think of any colors I don't like. Sometimes, a pattern or design yells out for something different. That is a voice that needs to be listened to.
Animals: Cute, comical are fun. Sorry, I personally don't like cats as much as others. Like dogs, monkeys, giraffes... hippos are probably a bit too close to my mirror image to enjoy. Elephants are fun because I frequently DO forget.
Not a huge fan of designs of the orient, paisley or fruit.
Kitchen is blue.
Is that better, Meganne? :)

sewbadly by sewbadly 18 Jan 2012

for my husband to roll his eyes and chuckle a bit.
Fabric: nothing delicate. I need something I could roll around and wrestle with on the floor... if I thought I could ever get up again.

sewbadly by sewbadly 18 Jan 2012

Bags... anything with organization options is just about as good as a hot fudge sundae... yummy! (I fell off my train of thought when I was cut off in my post.)

sewbadly by sewbadly 18 Jan 2012

Animals: Love 'em. Some are cute and some are just plain tasty. Real, cartoon.. doesn't matter.
Not a huge fan of orient, paisley or fruit in designs.
Colors: Kitchen is blue. I like the strong colors... unless a design calls for something softer.
Is that better, Meganne? :) 3AM here

sewbadly by sewbadly 18 Jan 2012

something softer. Animals: Some are cute and some are tasty. Real or cartoon. (Hippos are too close to my mirror image... back away, slowly.) Remainder work for me.

sewbadly by sewbadly 18 Jan 2012

Meganne, that is going to have to be good enough. 3 AM here and I am up addressing some breathing issues.... not sure how much O2 is actually climbing to my top floor. g'night all

meganne by meganne 18 Jan 2012

hahahahaha! thanks for the chuckle. i'm sick as a dog myself, so a good laugh always helps.
