I am looking for some advice in how to deal with the "wrong" design formats. When I download a design that is zipped it comes in all types of formats. So I unzip it and then delete the ones that don't apply to me. But I have also downloaded files that are not zipped and only come in another format other than mine. So I was going along deleting and ended up deleting the ones I wanted/needed to convert. How do I keep it all straight? As I read over this it dawns on me to download to a "to be converted folder". Too late for those I already filed :)

Can you not retrieve them from your recycle bin? I would definitely look there, unless you have your computer set to delete when you shut it down.
I have a filing system for different design categories. I even have one that is "horrible designs" that I've had trouble dealing with, but some of that could definitely have been my inexperience. I've learned that those designs are hard to come by, so once I possess them, I have them for ever and ever. Good luck finding a system that works for you!

HINT to save your sanity...I have a folder Called "Unwanted files". When I unzip, I move the zip file to a zip folder and ALL the other formats to the unwanted folder. Then I recheck the files in the unwanted folder BEFORE I delete them. I have saved quite a few designs that I would have deleted. hugs Helen

I have a file called different formats where I keep those files. I also have a file called zipped in which I keep all zipped files. I back this file up every month so I will be always able to retrieve them. Evry three months I back all my embroidery files and photo files uo. These CDs are kept in my Husband's office just in case of fire!

When you download the zipped file you have to save it in a folder in your computer and this file does not disappear after you unzip it, unless you delete it. For the other files you have deleted accidentally, have you checked the Recycle Bin in your computer? All the deleted files go in there. If you open Windows Explorer you can view all the deleted files and restore those you want back. Hugs, Lidia
