Carolyn, hope you are muchhhhhh better by now, and the pull out was easy.
did this a few years back with the lefthand forefinger, puh. not a nice memory, please take good care for all your fingers and the rest of your body 8-)
I hope you finger is healing well! I hurt just reading your post! Often, I have been tempted to put my finger near the needle, but having read a few of the needle piercing stories on Cute, I have refrained! Thanks for sharing to remind me to keep my itching hands and fingers where they belong-on my lap!;>)
OH MY! All I can think about is your pain. I hope you feel better quickly. I've never been caught by a needle but I've come close. Who knew sewing/embroidery/crafts could be so dangerous. ;0
Oh Carolyn! Owie owie owie owie! Oh I have, and it hurts oh so bad! I hope you can keep your fingers out of the way from now on. unfortunately I have done it twice now! Keep your fingers away from the needle! I hope you heal soon! Healing kisses. Jan
Oh dear; yes, it's happened to me too.
Hope it did not hit the bone.
Hugs,
Jacqueline
Einmal, als ich noch zur Schule gegangen bin,Tut schon weh.
Gute besserung,alles wird wieder gut.
Yep! I did that while sewing on white fabric back when I was in 8th grade....dang that hurt. Keep it clean and update your tetanus.
Yup! Me too! I did that when I first started sewing and my mom had told me that I could use her sewing machine, but to be careful because I could end up putting the needle through my finger and if I did that I wouldn't be allowed to sew any more. Well, I was sewing and got my finger in the way, it went into my finger (don't rem. how far) and came out and I continued sewing quietly in silent tears hoping mom wouldn't hear me. Years later she was telling somebody about it and told them she figured if I kept quiet when I did that I must have really wanted to sew. So she decided to wait and see if I told her (I didn't) and would let me keep on. I never did it again. I can still rem. it and ouch every time.
Hope you're doing better!
Yes, but not as badly as you as I only caught the beside the nail. OWWWW!!!!! And I cut into my right index finger using a paper cutter when I pulled the blade down and and apparently forgot my finger was there! Still have the scar from that. I sympathize totally! Hang in there, it'll get better.
I did that as a teen when learning to sew.My mother was in other room and I told her what i did and she didn't respond correctly. So I started crying and getting all upset. I have a very weak stomach and the thought of trying to get needle out of finger. I feel your pain.
Carolyn so sorry to hear that you hurt yourself. No I have never had anything like this happen to me as yet. Hope it heals soon. I'm sure it will not stop you. Hugs Yvonne
Ouch! Happened to my mom long time ago-No Fun.
Hope you feel better soon.
Hugs

Oh yes!, know how you feel. The needle in my case went through my thumb and I was all alone at the time. Backed the needle out and finished the project I was working on. It throbbed for quite a while. That was about 45yrs ago and haven't done it since. *4u
Bless your heart. It sounds very painful. I pray you heal fast. Hugs, Tammy
Carolyn, so sorry for your pain. Been there, but
needle didn't goes thru my nail.Take a break from
sewing while it is still throbbing. Enjoy the
Holidays! Maureen
WHEN I DID IT I WAS MAKING BEAN BAGS FOR MY GRANDSONS THEY THOUGHT IT WAS COOL! bOYS!!!!! HOPE UR BETTER SOON
Oh, Carolyn, sorry to hear about your mishap. I had the same thing happen way back in Home Ec class. Needle went right through my thumb. We had a substitute teacher at the time. So, still attached to the machine via the needle, I raise my other hand to ask to go to the nurse. The teacher won't let me until I unscrewed the needle, marched up to her desk and showed her my thumb. It's amazing I continued to sew after that! 8-) I hope you feel better real soon, dear lady! Hugs and *'s Deb
Oh Carolyn I can relarte to that put one through my thumb putting in a zipper it tryed to slip and I tryed to stop it went right through the middle of my nail.
I hope your thumb gets better soon I hope it does not get in the way of your Christmas sewing.
Hugs Lenamae
Ohhhhhh I feel for you! I worked in a curtain factory for several years and saw that happen to several co workers and they had to go with needle still in to the hospital. Not fun!
When I was very young I had the needle of my mum's treadle machine go through my finger, it just hit the side of the nail which as a result is a bit misshapen at the edge, a constant reminder to keep well away.
It must be very painful!
yes i did and off to the Dr. for a shot and butterfly stitch bandaid. mine when in to the tip missing the nail and side of my finger learnt that lesson. praying for you
Ooo That sounds painfull, I had my finger end under my indutrial walking foot machine, just managing to get it out, that was bad enough.
Oooh, Oooh, Ooooh! Just the thought of it is unbearable. I have seen it happen to others, many times when I worked as a machinist, but no, I don't ever want to suffer such pain.
Ooooh, I really do feel for you, I hope it gets better soon. hugs n wishes, Meganne
O-U-C-H ! ! ! ! PAINFUL ~ ~ ~
I haven't stitched my finger...but I have gotten it smashed with the needle housing ... hurts !!!!!!!!!!!!! Sure gets your attention...
Hope it heals fast and keep it clean and dry.
Ouch!!!! thankfully when I have run over my finger with the sewing machine it has not been that serious. I hope it gets better soon.
So sorry for you! It never happened to me and hope that it will never happen. Take care of yourself. HUGS!!!! Lidia
Been a free motion embroiderer for over 25 years, and yes I have done it several times. Hurts like the devil!!! Just a wake up call that we're trying to do too much. Time to relax a little.
But an incident that hurt worse was when I got grounded between a power outlet and manhole cover trying to unplug an old wringer washer. Life is just full of fun little lessons.
OUCH, Carolyn I am so sorry for you and your finger. I hope all is well soon. No, I have never done anything like that. Hugs Sarah.
Yikes reading that made me hurt. Thankfully I have never done that and hope it never happens to me. I can only imagine how much it hurts. I hope you stop hurting soon. Angie
OMG...I thought I was the only klutz around..lol...sorry, I know how bad it hurts, be careful and take care of that finger.
yep I did it once. The needle went through my nail and tip of my finger, missing the bone. Suggest if you haven't had a tetnus shot lately you call your Dr for a booster.
I did and i got one in 2006 and i am good for a few years yet !!!those shoots are really only for dirty items they said ????
NOPE! Puncture wounds make you need a tetanus shot. Better safe than sorry. I had a friend who bumped his knee on a brand new nail...and got tetanus. Almost didn't make it. You might call the doc to see what they say....
OUCH, Yes i have but only the very tip of my finger so i can only imagine your pain:(
I only did that once. It took a long time before I started sewing again. I can't stand pain.
OOPS! been there, done that-more than once. Keep the bandades handy- hope you heal quick Carolyn ~linda~
I can feel your pain. Hope it stops soon for you. I've never done that, hope it never happens either. Love Chris
Done that a couple times and had to get the pliers to pull it out. It was the same fingernail (left forefinger). lol It does hurt for a couple days. What project were you working on? Grab Mr. Peeko and maybe he can take your mind off the thumping. Hugs. . .
Carolyn, I can feel your finger throbbing from here. They say that you can not call yourself a qualified sewer until you have put a needle through your finger. Hope it gets better soon.
yes Lyn it will i have a very high pain thingie lolyou know what they say no pain no gain lolhugs
No, not I, but in sewing class a many year ago, class mate did, she was very quiet and when I saw her crying I was so amazed the needle had gone through the nail. No one heard a peep. Needless to say the teacher took her to the hospital for a tetanus shot.
OUCH!!! My goodness, sends shivers down my spine just thinking about it!
There's some terribly painful storiest amongst this lot but the tale of her brother getting the treadle machine going so fast etc. did make me smile as that was the type of machine I learned on and I could just picture it. Jan
Couple of months ago.....Hurts like all .......
We are all too impatient. Mine just went through my finger not the nail. I do feel your pain. hugs Helen
Helen i to learned on a treadle at 8 my grandmother sat beside me and helped me put a zipper in my Dads coat.I just sold that machine a few years ago lol
Yes I did that after many many years of sewing. Hurts like a son of a gun. So sorry.
Yes I remember doing that. Long time ago, right through the finger nail. I am still extra careful when sewing.
Hugs to you.
God bless
Oh Carolyn!!! OUCH! I hope it doesn't get infected. Thats sounds very painful!! Thankfully I've only caught the edge of the skin on my finger. That was enough for me to keep my fingers away from moving needles! I hope it heals quickly!!
Diane
I almost did the same thing a couple hours ago! I almost feel your pain!
Owwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!!!!!!!
Oh My Goodness!!! I don't know what to say.
Just hoping that the pain ceases very soon and that you can finish your mammoth task very soon.
If this isn't a timely reminder to go steady - fast and furious, but steady - with our Christmas sewing, what is???
Best of luck in the next day or two that your finger comes good for you.
AlmaG.
When we were kids, we had a treadle sewing machine. My brother was busy sewing something and had it really going. He got it going so fast that when it ran over his hand, it kept on going. After finally getting it to stop, he had to sit with a seam ripper and take the threads out too. It hurts!!
Did you throw the timing off with your accident? Today's machines are so finicky about that. I hope you feel better soon!!
This beats anything i have read yet .Does your brother still talk about it ??Has he scares hugs catrolyn
He has wounded himself so many times since then that the sewing incident is small beans. He wasn't permanently scarred. He has a heavy equipment machine shop, and injuries are just part of the job. I wasn't trying to one-up. It just brought back a memory. :)
I have done that..but not quite that bad! yikes! and ouch!! :(
Oh No! OUCH! OUCH! OUCH! that is terrible. The pain! hope the hug helps! Hugs Sally
Ouch!!!! I'm hurting for you. Hope you feel better soon
So sorry to hear, and there is still a lot of work before the wedding. Hope your finger feel better. Love Marie
not a needle, but cut the side of my finger off with a rotary cutter, that hurt too! Hope you finger quits throbbing......
Hugs,
mj
omg i droped the thing on top of my foot and needed stitchs now i shut it all the time lol i heal fast hugs
Oh wow that sounds way worse than your current injury. Maybe you need to slow down a little, p'raps? Good thing you're a quick recoverer :)
mjjust2ofus, that sounds a lot more painful then the needle through the nail. Hope your more careful with that rotary cuter now.
Feel better, soon.
I did that a few weeks ago... missed my fingernail.
I was more upset about breaking the needle I had just put in... sewing my finger made me feel pretty silly.
Yes, I also done that before with my embroidery machine, but the worst was when I was making halters for the horses on a heavy duty industrial machine, and we had to take the needle out of machine before we could get it out of my finger. No fun at all, take care and hope it heal ok.
Shirley
Yup, on my mother in law's industrial machine. We were quilting and chatting and I didn't pay attention, next thing i know I had stitched my thumb to the quilt. Stil have the scars from that one:((
yes i have twice all the years i have been sewing and i do something like this brok the needle off and was hard to extract from my finger yes it hurts like @#%#@....soozie
Ow, ow, ow, ouch!!!! I have and it isn't very leasant at all. Hope the throbbing goes soon
Yes many, many years ago. I was told to have a booster anti tetanus jab which I did. For reasons I dont remember the injection was in my leg. I reacted to the jab and could hardly move... Carolyn very sorry to hear you have sewn your finger up its not nice. Take care and dont do it again
I did it years ago with my mum's machine. I jerked back and broke the needle off in my thumb straight through my nail. I screamed and scared my Nanna silly. My dad had to use a pair of plyers to pull it out. Hurt soo much. xx
I just didn't want any blood on my quilt not a drop hit it loli still have half to do lol
me to i am sewing a big c/mas tree with some lovely designs on it so that helps not to look at the quilt lol
Thats nasty. Hope it heals quickly! Be sure to use an antiseptic/antibiotic on it to prevent infection.
I did this when I first got my Brother Pr600 with the 6 needles.. Was doing a small applique part of a design held the material in place and sure enough the needle went right through my nail I jumped stopped the machine.. my son came to my aid as the thread was still threaded through my finger.. oohh felt very quesey while my son gently pulled the thread right through my finger lol.. my machine was fine my finger throbbed for days, and my son just had to tell everybody what I had done .. no secrets in my house lol..
big hugs from London
Maria xx
