If I'm busy, I often just put a piece of lamb on to roast. Then chuck in the vegies later, served with some kind of greens it does the trick nicely.

When our kids were in school we needed quick meals and fast food was 20 miles away. No one liked processed frozen foods, so I would double, triple, etc. batches of food and freeze in portion sizes. Also would bake two or three whole chickens each week to make chicken ravioli, salad, dumplings, etc. Would also take the bones off the chickens and package then into the freezer. Used the food processor to chop several onions, slice carrots, celery and they would go into containers. Could put dinner together in 15-20 minutes with these things already done. Liked to keep lasagna roll ups in the freezer. And like Alma the slow cooker/crock pot was my friend only it went to the porch so I didn't have food smell in my nose all day. lol

wow!!! I Hate Cooking!!!!!

So, the least I have to do the more I'm likely to like it ..... but......53 years of marriage and feeding hundreds of hungry mouths still hasn't made me like it, or look kindly upon creating meals each day.

However.....I've just discovered the delights of a slow cooker - now there's a modern wonder!!! Stuff it full of vegies, meat and a slosh of stock in the morning, sew all day, fill the house with a delicious-smelling aroma for the home-coming workers and serve in the evening.

Can be called Osso Buco or OB-AlmaStyle.

I love it!!!

here's a yummy all in one dinner that you can put on and go sew! Wash and dry your chicken pieces (whichever ones you prefer) place in a large plastic bag (the ones from walmart are great) make sure there is no hole in the bottom! Scrub a couple of potatoes slice in 1/4's and put in the bag, peel a few carrots, leave whole and put in the bag, then add a good shake of garlic powder (aprox 1 tsp) and a bag of onion soup mix (again the walmart brand works fine) the dry kind, then add about 1/4 cup of olive oil, shake the bag real good mixing everything up and coating everything with the onion soup mix, pour into a baking pan and plop in a 350 oven about 90 minutes. then when it's done place everything on plates, platters or whatever you wish, add about a cup of water to the pan, scrape up all your drippings, thicken and poof you have gravy, now sit and enjoy with only 1 pan to wash. the back to sewing, wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeee just be sure you throw the bag away, don't try to cook anything in it - it will melt (giggle)

Oh they sound so yummy allready

my quick one not much attention needed:

Leek rings - frozen or fresh about 1 good handful per serving

dry spatzle or any other pasta you have on hand - same messure - 1 good handful per serving

ground meat or veggiburger equivalen as little or as much as you think

choped onion to your taste, vegie stock or water, sour creme, nutmeg, salt, pepper other herbs if you have them handy

brown the meat and onion in a pot, add the spatzle, put the leek rings on top, add stock or water to cover up (the spätzle will drink up the fluid) get to boil, turn of the heat completly put a lid on and sew for about 20 min to 30 min - add herbs and sour creme or sub. creme cheese - if you wish top with servings with shredded cheese - soulfood. This can be done with lots of substituts. use spinage instead of leek and add creme soup instead of stock or water, chopped chicken for ground meat - whatever you and your table round enjoy.

Do you have a product available there called Cool Whip? It's in the frozen section, usually near ice cream. That's whipped topping.

muflotex by muflotex 23 Aug 2011

Is it creme or something else ?
Wondering if I can find a match here in Germany

marcellelewis by marcellelewis 23 Aug 2011

You can also make your own using a package of 'Dream Whip'. It is found in a box located in the baking section at your supermarket. You only add milk and vanilla flavoring to it and whip with a mixer on high speed.

Hi McGraw,

My whole family loves this Chicken dish for dinner. It's a Microwave dish - my microwave is about 950W.

CHICKEN SATE

8 chicken thigh fillets (or about 700 - 800gms chicken breast - I prefer the breast)
1 onion, finely chopped
1 clove garlic, crushed (I use minced garlic in a jar)
30g (about 1 tbspn) butter
1/4 cup crunchy peanut butter (I use Sunflower Seed paste - as I have a peanut allergy)
1/2 cup chicken stock
1/4 cup honey
2 teaspoons grainy mustard (I use Honey Mustard)
1 teaspoon curry powder
Dash Tabasco sauce

Remove any fat and sinew from chicken. Combine onion, garlic and butter in dish, cook on HIGH 3 minutes. Stir in peanut butter (or sunflower seed paste), stock, honey, mustard, cury, tabasco, addd chicken in single layer. Cook on HIGH 6 minutes, give chicken a stir, (if using thighs, turn them over) cook on HIGH another 6 minutes. Serve with rice. Serves 4

This dish is simply delicious - don't forget the curry. I did once and it just doesn't have the same flavour.

Love and blessings Chris

P.S. I usually put the rice on first and have it waiting reay to eat when the sate is done.

I don't think it has really been done - by the whole CUTE family - just one or two recipes here and there.

I get asked to bring this to most parites I attend:

Cranberry Salad

1 package fresh cranberries
½ package cranberry Jell-O
½ package small marshmallows
1 can of pineapple chunks – well drained
1 can of mandarin oranges – well drained and chopped up
1 cup chopped pecans or slivered almonds or nut of your choice
1 container of Whipped Topping

Rinse and drain cranberries, grind in blender or coffee bean grinder. Give yourself plenty of time to do this - as you want those cranberries sliced up fine.

Mix cranberries, pineapple, oranges and nuts.

Fold in the Whipped Topping and Jell-O from the package, mixing gently but thoroughly. Add remaining ingredients (marshmallows and the cranberry mixture). Place in an attractive serving bowl and cover tightly.

Chill over night and serve.

We eat alot of chicken dishes - but recently - I have been making salad with chicken served on the top.

Lots of different greens - as many as you can find.
Sliced brocoli, mushrooms, onions, celery, cakuflower, and whatever you like best - the more the better - just small amounts of everything.
Cheese - any kind will work - sliced/chopped fine.
Tomato

and your favorite salad dressing. I enjoy the new balsamic vinaigrette.

Toss everything together in a bowl or salad plate.
Place the sliced chicken on top of the salad and serve.
