I have several of these very sturdy plastic bags and hated to just throw them away. Sot I cut off the plastic handles. Then I edge joined strips of ribbon together to cover the bag and sewed it to the top edge of the plastic bag. I finished it by adding matching ribbon handles. I did this several years ago and have used it multiple times. It is still going strong. I can use it to protect presents if it is raining when I deliver them or at the grocery store I can bag my bottled items in it and if there is a catastrophe, the liquid will not be all over the carpet of my car. This is a small bag but it is even easier to cover a larger bag with fabric. Think of quilting one with your scraps.

Way to go green - I have often thought I did not want to dispose of the plastic bags given out. Now, I may have to try it too.
