I have some sticky stabiliser from which I peel the paper away from the centre but it isn't wash away and it's the very devil to clean up the back of a design.

All suggestions gratefully received..... :}

The Floriani version is called "Wet and Gone Tacky" - it runs $45 US for the 9 in x 10 ft version (regular price at my dealer - but they have sales twice a year at 30% off so I stock up then). WorldWeidner.com has something similar called "Vilene Plus" - and it is less expensive than Floriani but I found it to be less sticky than the Floriani too. I know some places sell Floriani at a discount - The place that ClaudeNicolas shows below has the Floriani 9*10yd for $38.24 US (don't know about shipping or what country you are in tho). I use a TON of wash-away sticky and have been using the WorldWeiner for test stitching and the Floriani for the real item.

Thank you for this information.
I've bought from WorldWeidner.com before and they were excellent to deal with.
I have a lot of research to do now.

I bought some at the Atlanta Quilt and Sew Expo at the Marathon Thread Co. booth. It was called "Sticky Wet N Melt" check their website. www.marathonthread.com The label says for items that can not be hooped and stabilizer rinses out with water. Kay

Thank you, Kay. I buy a lot of things from Marathon Threads in Melbourne, Australia - they are excellent. I'll look and see what they have.
This must be the stabiliser that you hoop and then slightly dampen to hold the fabric on top while stitching.

I think that I have found a link where they sell what you want. I wanted also to buy such a product, I have not yet buy it. perhaps it is possible to find it anywhere less expensive, I do not know if they send in international. If you buy with them, tell us how is this stabilizer

I just looked and signed on to this site. I just paid $41.00 plus tax for a 12x25 yd roll of Floriani Sitch N Wash Plus had to drive 1.5 hrs to get it. There price for the same is much less and they say free shipping in USA. WOW.

This site is where I buy my stabilizers and RA thread. I have been using them for a few years, free shipping. I don't know if they ship internationally.

This is not the same. It is not sticky. This is Floriani's version of Vilene. Excellent product , but not sticky.

caroldann by caroldann 26 Jun 2011

They do carry a stick and rinse.

Thankyou, claudenicolas, for that help.
I will have a hunt in this site, too.
Also I appreciate all the extra messages as well.
Free shipping in USA is a bonus because my daughter can send things on to me for a lot less postage costs than most businesses' shipping costs.

Hi, the product use used is Magic Applique and is for applique.
WSS (vilene type wash away is what you would use to hoop if you are doing FSL. The Solvy or Avalon is plastic looking and is placed on top of fabric (like toweling) so your stitching doesn't sink into the loops and sits on top of the fabric.

I just tried a product by Sulky called Sticky + Self-Adhesive, Tear-Away Stabilizer which you peel off the paper in the center. I used this on the applique I just did. I couldn't believe how easy and clean this peeled off - great product. Very impressed by it. Next week JoAnn is having the 4th of July sale so I will be using my 50% off coupon plus an extra 10% off total order to purchase another one. Diane

At Joanne's, use the coupon to buy the whole bolt. Since you have tried it and know you like it. I do this with the solvy. I like keeping it on the bolt. Easier to store and neater!! Kay

Thank you, Diane and Kay. Boy!! do I love JoAnn's sales!!! My daughter in AZ uses her coupons all the time and sometimes sends sales items to me here in S.Australia. When I'm over there visiting her we 'do' JoAnn's almost daily - she has a dance costume business and just about any excuse is good enough to jump in the car to go and hunt through JoAnn's.
I'll tell Sandy about this Sulky product, too.
I also keep my different stabilisers on cardboard cut to bolt size - very easy and neat storage.... and also very easy to handle when cutting off a piece.
