may I please ask all of you to please pray for my daughter in laws sister Vanessa, She has hydrocephalus, and her brain has swollen and is near death ,She is only 32 , has 2 young children 4 and 2 years.She has had her shunt changed twice in the last week , but is still extremely ill.

Update for Vanessa, to all Vanessa's faithful praying friends I thought I would give an update on what is happening. The Doctors told us last week that Vanessa's 'drain' was not working properly (draining the fuid from the brain), and that she only had a day or two to survive. That was over a week ago. Vanessa continues to baffle the Doctors and continues to 'fight on'. Vanessa looks well in herself, however, there is still no purposful movements or recognition. Vanessa is a constant amazement to the nurses and doctors and the witness that she is and the effect she is having on the staff is amazing. Thank you again for your prayers. We do not know what God's will is for Vanessa, we do know that He will be glorified through all this. This page is a testimony to the life Vanessa has led and to Jesus who she loved and served (even lying in a hospital bed). Please continue to pray for Vanessa, her family and for each other that God will uphold each one of us. Thanks again for your support

Vanessa'sUpdate: At a family meeting last night the doctors outlined Ness's conditon which is continuing to decline. It is not expected that she will make it through the next while. Please continue to pray for God's spirit to be strengthening and affirming Ness as well as be a comfort to those who love her. We truly appreciate all the love and support that you have given by your words, actions and prayers.

UPDATE: Ness is still in a critical condition we are waiting for meaningful signs of response now the sedation has cleared out of her system. Her condition has stabilised but the extent of any damage is unclear. The difficult task for us is to Pray, hope, trust and wait. We truly appreciate your support, care, concern and prayers.

I just got this message
Update: we have all just come into the hospital to talk directly to the specialist. He is quite happy with her 'behavior' today. She has a bit of a temp and also a clot in her leg but both are being dealt with by medication.
So good seeing ness moving her shoulders and trying to squeeze my hand... She isn't awake but she is definitely moving when we talk to her... I have challenged her to a thumb wrestle next time I see her!!

... Ok... things may not be as good as we thought. The have taken her off the sedation completely but she still isn't responding. Her top and front brain have stopped increasing in swelling but they haven't gone down. We may have to make another decision in the next 48 hours...

as of this morning they had reduced Vanessa's sedation a little bit. They may be reducing it even more tomorrow.

update for 26-4-11

Vanessa has had surgery this afternoon ,she didnt have any peeks in her brain overnight, so the doctors decided to drain some fluid,its looking a bit more promising , she will be slowly awakened from her induced coma,(it will take a week)Thank you all for your prayers

this is todays update (Monday 25-4-11)

Update: Ness has had a quiet night. Only a few spikes in brain pressure. She is still in the coma but we are waiting to hear what the doctor wants to do. He may leave her sedated for another day.

Prayers are here for Vanessa and all whose lives she has touched - May Our Lord's Grace, Mercy and Love remain with you all throughout the coming days.

We have actually had some good news. Her brain pressure levels have dropped. They think that she may have been allergic to one of the salt solutions that they had been giving her. She isn't out of the woods - but we are so pleased after yesterday to get some good news!
We got this update from her sister,tonight.
