These are the old canned foods given to the military to eat during WWII and beyond. I don't think they use these anymore. I digitized these to put it in a group of Army things for an apron for my WWII vet Dad. I forgot to take photos of it stitched on the apron so this is of the design. It stitched out great and he was thrilled with it. You must stitch it in the order given to keep the layering right. Your older vet will enjoy this design!

This is fun thanks! we helped some friends open and an army surplus store and they have a basket full of the P38's to take free with a purchase so we all have one on our key chains or pockets and my son is in the military they hate the MRE's he says the food at the barracks isn't too bad better than a bachelors life in his case LOL

Now they eat MRE (Meals Ready to Eat). Self-heating and almost always, a tiny bottle of Tobasco Sauce! Hubby had his fill in Desert Storm! Thanks for the design!

I'd love to do an MRE design. Wouldn't that be fun! I have no idea what they look like, or which one would be the common one to do, though. Maybe the Tobasco Sauce would be fun. Could you PM me to help me figure out which to do? thanks

The MRE is a brown rubber-like rectangular package. They have all sorts of different meals. A lot of times they come with a heating unit that you just add water to create the heat. My husband was an Army food inspector and he had to inspect those along with food at the commissary.
