Linda, the best way to see the flowers is going to the Keukenhof. I'll give you the link to their website which will give you any information you may need. It opened to the public 3 days ago and closes 20 May. Throughout that time it shows spectacular species and beautiful displays.
Professional bulb growers 'behead' their plants before they are pollinated and the flowering fields are a spectacular but short-lived byproduct. Travelling from Amsterdam to Leiden you get a nice view at several places, but nothing beats The Keukenhof and the surrounding area.

Linda I left Holland many many years ago, but do not miss goint ot Keukenhof. that is a park full with all the flowers etc. than there is near Den Haag-(the Hague to you) Maduradam, this has all of the famous things in Holland in minuature. Near Arnham is the Open air museum and there old farmhouses have been re-build and also furnished. I like the Zaanse schans: is some old mills and shops from there my favourite drive is small roads through Jisp to Enkhuizen where is a fab old museum. Delft is a super old town and ofcourse Marken and Volendam are famous.
Hope you have a super time.Arnham itself is dissapointing as it ofcourse was bombed and destroyed in the last was.

Linda I have been & it is beautiful. We drove & had relatives nearby to stay with. If you plan on staying overnight you might better check on reservations. Places to stay are reserved a long time ahead. Maybe there will be some cutie living nearby that can clue you in on the answers you need/Lillian
