Cross Stitch. These needles are supposed to be able to stop you twisting the thread. You go up in one stroke and instead of turning the needle to go down you just go down again without twisting your wrist. Hope this helps. I have been using one to put the buttons on my Biscournu as it is the longest needle that I have. Lyn

Hmmmm.... learn something new everyday- I had to look this up Lyn because I have never seen these before-what a clever idea. I have always just done the regular in and out(or up & down-whichever terms you want to use) method with the regular needles or blunt tip for Aida cloth. Sounds like something I will have to add to my "wish list" =O) ~linda~

To tell you the honest truth. I just had to have a set (3 sizes) of these when I first heard about them. I used to do a lot of Cross Stitch, but not so much now since having my embroidery machine. I broke one the other with would be the equivalent of the 28 embroidery needle. It was not strong enough to put buttons on a biscornu.
