I found some material that is 50% bamboo and 50% cotton. Would that be something I could quilt on successfully? I had not heard of bamboo fabric before. thanks

Recently, I found some terry hand towels that contained Bamboo. They looked just regular terry towels. I don't know how they wash as they were intended for gifts and items to sell. I would be interested to know how they wash. Kay

I have bamboo sheets. They are warmer than cotton but it pilled so wash and test the fabric first.

Good to know. I always wash the fabric first to remove any sizing or smells. Probably helps with shrinking as well.
Thanks, for the information.

Cuties, you have put a sparkle in my day!
JoAnns had one of their 50% off coupons for a cut of fabric that was not on sale. I was able to apply that to an unopened bolt of this material - 12 yards... and I thought it was a good deal.
Now, that I have read your opinions... I feel I got a great deal and can not wait to start using it.
Many thanks! Julie

It sews great and feels like silk. I embroidery on white from Jo-anns. Love it. They say there is going to be more material with bamboo, because the price of cotton is going sky high. I made lots of slips, pantaloon, aprons and bonnets for american dolls, and they feel like silk. Go for it.

I know you can get Knitting yarn made from bamboo too, although I have not used any yet.
I am only allowed to smell the yarn in the stores,it is my punishment cos I have stacks that need to be used up in my stash.LOL..
The fabric must be lovely.

Well you got your answer, and I have bamboo batting for my next quilt project.

Isn't it nice to have this site, rather than rely on the random kindness of strangers at the store. Hope your batting works out well for you.

Bamboo is wonderful. You can get hand/ bath towels as well and they are so soft.

Yes you can. Since bamboo is a natural fiber like cotton it works fabulous! When I had my store we carried leotards made from bamboo and lycra and all the girls loved the feel of it. (we did too, cause we would go around touching them all the time hehehe)

I found some kitchen towels last summer for $1 each that where 100% bamboo. I bought at least a dozen. They are so soft and very absorbant. I absolutely love them and they make great gifts. You go need to use water soluable stablizer on topas they can get snags otherwise.

Yes, you can.
You can actually get bamboo wadding to go between quilts. It is very soft and non allergenic.

Thank you very much. The information about it being non allergenic is of particular interest to me.

I cannot answer your question on quilting on a cotton and bamboo fabric but as far as I am aware it is a strong fabric and is being used far more. Bamboo grows quickly so produces a crop rapidly

Thank you for your information. I did not want to invest the time and effort on a project that would not hold over time.
