I made these for my mother too - her name is Diana. I machine washed them after I'd done the embroidery to make sure they'd survive and not get spoilt! They have puckered a little bit but I still think they're good enough to give to her today. This is also the first time I have combined designs: I only have a 4x4 hoop and this is three separate designs, plus the letter. It took me ages to work out the positioning but I think I got it right. (I did a couple of practice stitchouts first, and I couldn't have done it without a water-soluble pen!) The designs are from Designs By SiCK's "Linens 4 x 4" collection, you get 39 designs for your $7.95! Now I've seen how these stitch out and worked out how to line them up, I will be embroidering some for myself and also for my daughter.

Thank you so much for your kind words. I gave them to my mother and I know she was pleased because she keeps showing them to people!

I meant to add that I always wash and iron everything I embroidry. I would hate to give something to anyone and have it look bad after they washed it.

You did a good job - try using a lite spray starch to the pillow case prior to stitching, and then ironing in. This helps. I find it had to position at times too - What would we do without our water doluble pen?

Hello Dianne, you have done a great job with the positioning and creativity. I am learning to put designs together as well and the water soluble pens are a god send for marking out your measurments, I am almost needing a new one. When I first started embroidering I thought yeah just hoop the material and find the center and that was it, but I soon learnt that there is a lot more to it than that and there is a lot of maths involved with it and a lot of lining up, but it is worth it in the end, it is a wonderful feeling when it all goes how you wanted it to. It looks lovely, I love what you have created. Sandra H from Australia.

Dianne, great positioning work - you did great - sometimes - you can place your embroidery down on a terry towel - embroidery to the terry - when you press from the back side. Wonderful job. Can't wait to see your set, too! *4U

Shirlener88, do you mean to put your work right side down on the towel and press it , is this to get the puckers out?
