I would like to do embroidery on quilted calico (100% cotton with a polyester backing). What type of stabiliser should I use? Also, do you hoop this type of fabric? Thanks in anticipation. Lyn

Hello Lyn,
I have not long ago did some embroidery on some quilted fabric. Some I have quilted myself and some from Spotlight. I didn't use any Stabilizer on either and I did Hoop it. Lyn

Is it the prequilted calico that you might use for bags, tablerunners.etc? It will be difficult to hoop but you can use a medium weight stabilizer(I would use tear away),hoop that, then use temporary spray adhesive on the stabilizer.Position your fabric on the sprayed stabilizer then if you have the capability, baste stitch around the design area & you are ready to embroider.Hope this helps.

Thank you for the answer rachap & the interest from the others. Yes, it is the type you asked about. My DH gave me a fabulous Kenwood Mixer for Xmas, as it is sooooo heavy it needs to stay on the kitchen bench. I am going to make a cover for it. Thanks again, Lyn.

You will enjoy the stand mixer--maybe almost as much as your embroidery machine!!
